At this point I'm more worried about murica.
Our own govt is more of a threat than the Chinese at this point. I'd be far more worried about the US govt having backdoors to our files.
These were $499.99 less $100.00 = $399.99 a few months ago so this is $50 lower.

If you make the SSID and password the same do devices not automatically connect? I have an eero pro 6E now and looking at this. The eero replaced an old orbi and everything just connected as long as network was the same.
That's exactly what I did with this system a month ago, replacing an orbi with this tp-link from Costco, and it worked. Very easy to accomplish for someone that has SOME technical ability. I only have my personal experience to speak from, so no promises, but for me it totally worked like you said; same name/PW and everything reconnected.

Are you happy with this TP link? I had an old Orbi RBR50 for years and i just replaced it a month ago with Eero Pro 6E from Amazon but I'm still within the return window by a couple of days. It works well but is 6E. I only have 300MBps service so I doubt I need anything more but thought for same price this would be a lot more future proof...

I replaced my ORBI system with 3 units wired to a switch (wired backhaul), and it's been amazing. I did have big issues with my old switch, which did not properly support ieee 1905.1 with a new switch, and all is working so much better than the ORBI did. I have much better consistency in coverage, way fewer drops or stalls, and I haven't needed to go through reboots like I used to. When the power goes out, etc., it just comes back up easier. It took me a bit to get used to the app-like config vs. an old school web page, but all the functionality I've looked for is there. I highly recommend. I also just checked cve.org site for the Chinese exploit concerns, and didn't find anything referenced.

thanks for the detailed reply! I would be using wireless backhaul, I don't have my house wired for ethernet (1970s home), have thought about MOCA but not all rooms have a coaxial. I think I'm going to give this a try and return the Eero Pro 6E just to handle a lot of wifi devices better and be a little more future proofed. Eero all seems to be on an app (although limited) so that is fine with me!

No comparison. The nest wifi pros are utter and complete trash. You'd think Google has a great product and solution for fast wifi but nooooooooo.Get these and you'll be happy
Same experience with Nest Pros. Had them at a rental, and they were bad. Run hot, reboot required often, and inconsistent speeds out of the Nest Pros.

I have about 80 devices (about 60 are IoT devices) in my two-story house and had a three node Asus XT8 (tri-band Wifi 6) mesh system before. I just replaced the Asus with this new TP-Link system in the exactly same spots in the house. The difference is night and day: the Asus was struggling with dropping connections and bad DNS lookup latency, and the TP-Link has none of those problems and been stable so far.
Some observations with the TP-Link:
  1. You can assign the 2.4 GHz band with its own SSID by first disabling that band in the Wifi 6 network, and enabling the "IoT Network" (2.4 GHz) with a dedicated SSID.
  2. It will auto-scan and recognize the existing TP-Link (Kasa brand) IoT devices, and let you control those devices from the Deco app. But the automations like scenes and schedules don't carry over (yet) but still are manageable from the Kasa app.

I show its back to $400 at Costco ( maybe in store ymv?). Bummer I waited. I have 3, but if I got 1 more it would help on my wiring…. But they don't sell singles afaik.

The $50.00 off promo expired on 6/8. Based on the history of this item I am guessing that the $50 off will return at least 1-2 times this year.

I bought mine at Costco and just set it up today...while the network is fantastic... everything is significantly faster than the old router, only 2 out of 3 works. One is stuck in solid yellow light. I tried reset it it a few times but it stuck red and then after I unplugged and plugged back it stuck in yellow...
Would Costco do exchange? I have not don't exchange before...

Yes Costco should exchange it since the price is higher now. Just bring it back with the box and your receipt.
