Only get insurance for things that would be financially devastating: house, boat, car, life… for small items you should self insure, you'll be better off
My experience after owning several since launch has been that it takes around 3-4 years for the larger variant to stop lasting through the day if you use it to track workouts and spend a lot of time outdoors. Only once have I actually had a battery go bad, and I spent the $100 to get it replaced and handed it to another family member. It made sense at the time because a used stainless steel 6 was still worth more than that used.
Bought wife hers 4 years ago. Battery reduces similar to a cell phone i'd say. Nothing Applecare would cover as far as I know.
Not saying AC is a bad idea, but wouldnt get solely for battery coverage.

Probably worth investing apple care+ on these watches because the batteries likely crap out before the watch itself?

Thanks for the comments. I never bought extended warranty on electronics myself, but my son's Apple watch SE cellular battery health dropped to 80% in a year and it barely last half a day with just some messaging, no call no streaming. So I start wondering if the apple watch battery is prone to faults

Hmmmm. Poor advice based on one person's experience. I have a series 5 that holds a charge like brand new.

$200 for titanium plus cellular just doesn't seem like it's worth it unless you really need cellular.

What does your son stream on a wearable?

? about the cellular model. Will it have its own number like a cell phone and I can make/receive calls from the watch itself?

Or will it be linked to my cell phone number and I can make/receive calls from the watch when my phone is nowhere near by? (Phone at home, watch with me elsewhere)

I have a series 6 and I have to charge it before leaving work on days that I'm running. It will last a day if not working out, but I do a GPS hour or so recorded workout daily, and it'll die if I don't charge it ahead of time. It's worse on cold days.

battery health is 74%.

i had a series 7 and decided to upgrade to this. its noticeably faster. i actually use my watch by itself while running so it was a big improvement. mostly just the speed. the bigger display is nice as well. apple watches are great if you work out or run

never, currently running with Apple Watch Series 4, no issue at all. If you are the real true user of Apple products, you will know the fact
