These are a huge step above the Alesis Nitro and the Simmons Titan. The mounting brackets are metal, not plastic, and the snare sits on a real snare stand, so it's giggable. I've seen cover bands on stage with this kit. The ride is 3-zone, the crashes and hi-hat are 2-zone, and it comes with everything but a throne and sticks. You have to pay $1200+ to get anything better.

Would this be a good kit to learn on? I've never touched a drum in my life but I'm interested.

Yes. It'll feel a lot more like real drums than the cheaper kits, you get a lot of fun electronic sounds to play with as well as the regular drum sounds, and you won't immediately want to upgrade if it turns out you like drumming.

But the price is now $750. $637 was a Memorial Day sale deal. Still a good deal, but not quite as slick.

If you go for it, also buy some 5A drumsticks with plastic tips and a drum throne. This one is good unless you're really tall, but if you have a Guitar Center near you, you can go there and try some out in person.

Good luck!
