Where did you hear that from?

Maybe from vendors that have poorly cooled chassis + unrestricted TDP. Even a modest 14' business laptop can keep it below 40C chassis temps at max load peaking at 54W(max TDP) before balancing out at 49W:

The AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS is known to run hot. Any comments on the latest updates for this processor?

I have a beelink mini PC with 8845hs. In that form, it runs really cool. The fan is silent and the CPU rarely goes above 60c.

This is an ok deal. The zenbook s14 deals with the lunar lake processors seemed to be better. The battery is a god size for a 14" so it should get decent battery life. if you have the $100 off at Dell for an Amex card, the Dell 14 plus is $830 without offer and $730 with the offer and has newer components.

Does the Dell come with an OLED Display? If not, do you know of any in this price range ($750-$850) that do or is this the only one?

I have always wondered why the AMD Ryzen based laptops almost always lack fingerprint scanners compared to Intel based machines

I think it's less about the processor and more about the model.

Thanks, I believe they fixed the issue with a driver update.

Do you have a link to the Zenbook s14 deals?

Have the model with the 7840u of this. I've been pretty happy with it. Got the one from Costco. Nvme was fast at 7000 mb for sequential read and write. Only fault with that one is the low end network adapter it had which started failing about 9 months in. Replaced with a wifi6e Intel and it's back to working perfect plus faster wifi with the Intel adapter

I have bought this laptop a bit more than 1 year ago for the same price with a 1 TB SSD. The screen is really nice. Battery life is still decent and was good when it was new (I never use it plugged in and hence the battery has like a few hundred of charging cycles now). It runs quiet. Keyboard and touchpad are decent but not comparable with premium laptops. Overall I am quiet happy with my purchase. There might be better offerings or discounts now vs when I bought it - depending on your use case. Wanted to share my experience.

Too bad the majority of laptops nowadays use LPDDR5X memory. Can't upgrade since it's soldered in. I guess It has to be so the laptop is very thin.
