This is a really good deal! One of best gaming laptops of last year.

Just needs more RAM but it's upgradeable. 500-nit display, monster CPU, solid GPU, good build, reasonable battery life, etc.

Have this laptop but with the 14th gen cpu. It's a beast. Best gaming laptop out. 13th gen is just as good.

I've had bad experiences (plural) with Asus components in my PCs and their absolutely abysmal support…what is the quality of their laptops?

I've been watching this for weeks since it's on clearance and was hoping for another price drop. I went ahead and ordered it since I'm starting to do contract work and I would rather game than browse the web on my downtime between shifts while I'm stuck in a hotel room.

I noticed after I ordered that it's still showing in stock, so maybe if I get lucky that one will still be there and the price drops.

Either way, this is a really hard deal to top right now outside of Best Buy open box where I'm thinking you can get the 32GB variant for a couple hundred more bucks, but that's a $40-80 user upgrade depending if you add a stick or replace the current one (supposedly max is 32GB for max speed, but this i9 CPU does support more and it'll downclock the memory).

That didn't apply to the laptop CPUs.

I have a 1070gtx laptop that is still my daily driver after 8 years of service. I did have to replace an exhaust fan that was failing but that's it. I also repasted the CPU and GPU and upgraded the wifi card to Wifi 7 in those 8 years. It works great except some wear on the wasd area keys where the paint wore off.

I have a 4070rtx desktop GPU from them too no problems so far.

I'm looking to upgrade to a 5080 laptop this year and wouldn't hesitate to buy Asus again based on my experience. It last a lot longer than my Sager laptop before it did.

That's interesting, I have a 2070 super Max-P Sager that's been running strong for 4 years now. It's been great, opened it to add drives (sata ssd and another m.2) and I had to replace the ram when it failed but it was easy and it performs very well. I'm an asus fan but sager has been really good to me.

TL;DR: My personal experience with the G15 version of this laptop is mostly good performance-wise - it's easy to update your RAM, SSDs, WiFi card, and thermal compounds, but it runs very hot and loud, and it's very heavy.

More detail:
The cooling on the G15 version of this laptop is abysmal. The liquid metal completely ran off of both my CPU and GPU within the first year and a half of owning it. And even after replacing it with Arctic MX-6 thermal paste, the CPU still regularly hits peak temps of 95 degrees C while playing basic games like Brotato with fans running max speed while the laptop is on a dual fan cooling pad in an air conditioned room. Before changing the thermal paste, it was regularly shutting itself off due to overheating when I would do as little as opening a browser. It's very crippled by the cooling problem.

The power brick is also enormous and heavy, and so is the laptop itself. I got this because I travel a lot and needed a powerful machine for audio production and game development while on the road, and the laptop and power brick alone take up my entire carry-on weight limit on smaller domestic flights.

Other than those issues, it's a very powerful laptop, it looks great, the keyboard is pretty nice for a laptop, and the screen looks really good. I'd just install HWinfo right away, monitor your temps, and if you start to notice them generally rising over time, then repaste your CPU and GPU, as well as your VRAMs and other smaller modules under the heat dissipator (I used Upsiren 12.8w/mk thermal putty for those).

In for 1; Walmart is retarded. Price in store is still $1499 and had to order pick up. The "coaches" said this is the policy.

Thank god for Walmart management and customer service….hard /s
