The black one with a better speaker was $100 cheaper just a few days ago.

I'm waiting for the price for the Asus variant to drop (PG32UCDP). Supposedly, that's a better monitor, and I like its feature set better. But it's been stuck at $1200 for quite some time now. Meanwhile, we keep getting deals on the LG version, and I wonder whether I ought to just buy the LG instead.

If you're planning to drop this much on an oled, I would wait for the ASUS XG32UCWMG. This will be a WOLED 165/240hz with higher brightness and true black glossy display that decreases reflections.

Anyone have experience using this monitor for work? How's the text clarity?

I don't think a glossy screen will be able to match the black levels of the matte options in bright environments. Don't fall for their marketing hype. The fact is they needed a glossy WOLED option since gamers are overwhelmingly buying glossy options rather than matte ones. Most QD-OLED options are glossy, and there was no glossy WOLED option. Not saying that the glossy WOLED won't be a good option. Both QD-OLED and WOLED have their (minor) pros and cons compared to each other. Just saying that take the 'true black' with a grain of salt. At some point a glossy screen can't overcome reflections. I really doubt it's going to be as good as a matte options. But yes, one is not in a hurry, no harm waiting and seeing.

I sit in a sunny room and I'm fine with the glossy look because of the better color vibrancy especially in the evenings and at night.

I have this monitor and I absolutely love it. It's fantastic for games, but does not compromise for productivity work in Windows. Text clarity is perfect. I looked at quite a few OLED screens before purchasing this one and I really did not like the way the QD OLED screens had fringing around text and window borders. On the 1440p ultra wide screens it was very noticeable even without even getting close to the monitor. The subpixel layout and increased resolution of this screen make it a joy to use for any task.

Also, the speakers are terrible. I heard other reviewers saying they were good but mine are not (I have the white model).

FWIW this price is $100 less than the cheapest sale price I've seen for this screen.
