Purchased one of these to take to an Air BnB house that had a pool but no shade. Were able to get it hung up temporarily and it worked fantastic. Let's through enough light, but blocks the majority of the UV rays and heat. Would absolutely buy another if I had a pool I wanted to shade. That price is very good from what I've seen in the past.

Water will definitely go through the fabric but will go through it slowly. This is more for shade only.

No, these are sun shades that have tons of little holes in them to block some of the sun and wind, but let some through. You want a tarp.
