See the steps below from https://slickdeals.net/f/17077762-at-t-128gb-samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-5g-w-added-line-or-new-customer-activation-350-35-activation-free-w-free-s-h?p=167181442#post167181442 (you will have to change to s24 from s22 if you want to flash unlocked firmware) but rest is same.

ATT requires 60 days active before unlocking the phone. However, there is SIM Swap method which worked well in the past for unlocking paid-off ATT phones right away.

0. Do the following steps after paying off the phone fully and then waiting for a day or so for the unlock portal to get the paid off status.

1. ATT changed their unlock policy on 3/18 to require 60 days of service before they can unlock a fully paid device. Previously, it used to be right away if you have paid in full.
2. There two timeline for the cancellation. If you cancel a line before 3 days it was active then the activation fee is waived. If you cancel it within 14 days from activation under buyers remorse then no bill is charged but activation fees need to be paid. The line activates on right when you place the order not the day you receive the phone on hand so you might have to pay the activation fee of $35.
3. You can use a tello number and port to ATT but you would have to make sure porting is successful by going to https://www.att.com/portstatus/. Many from z fold 3 got stuck in porting limbo and got the ATT account cancelled.
4. As with many deals here, a SIM swap method is found which can be used to unlock the device. This was working recently but not sure if ATT would fix it by the time you try it. The steps are as follows.
a. Pay in full for the phone. While your payment will quickly reflect in your account it will be at least a few hours before it updates for the unlock request.
b. When you receive the phone activate it on ATT with the SIM provided. Make sure it shows up on myATT app/in the web so ATT knows and registers the IMEI in the network. Then put the SIM in another unlocked phone, reboot, make some calls and make sure this unlocked phone is now showing under the line in app/web portal.
c. Now go to ATT unlock portal https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and then choose not an ATT customer and use the IMEI of ATT phone and submit an unlock request.DO NOT attempt more than twice or you will be blocked for 24 hours.
d.Confirm the unlock request email and receive the unlock code.
e. Only cancel the line after you have unlocked the phone.

Then after unlocking if you are feeling adventurous and want to flash the phone to an unlocked firmware to get rid of ATT bloat you can follow these steps. It's actually very easy to do with Odin.

1. There are many models of s22 ultra but in US two models are imp. S908U is carrier locked version and S908U1 is the unlocked US version. The firmware for these versions are interchangeable so you can flash the ATT model with S908U1 firmware.
2. Download patched odin v3.14.1_3B_PatchedD.zip from https://xdaforums.com/t/patched-o...1.3762572/ as regular odin does not allow flashing mismatched firmware.
3. Download the firmware from S908U1 XAA version from https://samfrew.com/model/SM-S908U1/region/XAA/ Extract as there will be multiple files.
4. Connect S22U to the windows PC.
5 .Put s22u in download/recovery/odin mode. Power down. Press Volume up and down together and then press Volume up to go into recovery (a green screen would appear).
6. Start odin and then select different files for different categories and then start.
7, It should be now the US unlocked version.
FYI for those ordering with ATT, activation fee on the bill can be waived automatically by clicking on "don't recognize this fee" on the bill on web/app even if it's more than 3 days. It's one time (every 12 months or so) favor from ATT. See wiki of this thread https://slickdeals.net/f/17327499-oneplus-nord-n30-5g-128gb-unlocked-chromatic-gray-cph2513-best-buy-0 for more details on bills afterwards.
I ordered online yesterday the ATT one to expect receiving it today. Called both the Ontrac and Walmart since there is no update on tracking. Walmart said it's not in stock so they will send once it is back in stock. Online already showed and still showing it's in stock. Now I will not be able to receive it any time soon and will miss the 1-3 days window to playoff and cancel etc. Too much hassle imo. now I am preparing to cancel the order if no update later today 😞. Credit pull loss

Finally i received end of 3rd day. it was memorial day holiday when i ordered hence the delay. Was able to cancel it 4th day. Will likely get bill including the activation fee which will see if can get waived . Thanks OP

Bought a S24 plus at a Walmart store yesterday at 5PM. Activated on the spot and took the phone home. Paid the $360 in the ATT APP. Made some calls, and did the SIM switch at 10 pm. (Just followed the SIM switch instructions. It is easy.) Today, requested the UNLOCK through the WEB site. And got the UNLOCK code for the ATT phone an hour later and it did the phone unlocking. Yeah. Now, waiting on day 3 and cancel my ATT plan.😄
I thought this was only an online offer? What Walmart store has this offer in store?

Does anyone successfully void the activation fee after 3 days of activation with ATT? How does it work? ATT has been giving me a runaround about the final bill.

1. 05/31 - Phone line activated
2. 06/03 - Phone received and paid off
3. 06/04 - Phone unlocked and phone line canceled
4. 06/05 - Phone bill received for prorated service fee plus $35 activation fee totaling $59.xx. Then disputed the activation fee via app on the same day and approved, email received confirming a credit will be applied next day

Since then I have been expecting another bill showing the activation fee removed and just billed for the prorated service fee. 3 days has passed but no update regarding billing. Contacted a rep via chat today and was told next bill will come in July. I told the rep I wanted to make a full payment now but I don't know how much I should pay. Rep said my bill is $59.xx due 06/24/25. I asked again I should have the $35 activation fee refund. Rep said the credit will show up on next bill. I asked the rep again what do I do with a statement credit for since I am no longer ATT customer and the phone line has been canceled. I don't want a credit. I want a refund. Then the rep said the credit will be mailed to me as a refund check next month.

I really don't trust what the rep said to me. Just wondering if any SD fellows have the similar issue and how their cases were handled?

I have seen the bill credits come in the next bill but then I did these deals on an existing ATT account so didn't matter if the credit came next bill. In you case, you should talk to another CS and insist on a refund on current bill as you are correctly telling them you won't get a next bill. Mention buyer's remorse etc also. I think you are doing it the right way just need to get someone to do the credit for you. Also, for activation fee it should've been an instant credit, did you click that link and then after logging out and logging back in/incognito mode you don't see $35 credited?

Edit: Also read last few pages of one plus Nord n30 deal I linked in one of the pinned comment.

Do you have a link. This is not bill credit, nor a contract. You pay off s24 ultra with $432 + tax and cancel the line.

DP (Verizon Route)
 1. Purchased S24U on 06/04, got on the 75$ plan, paid $39.42
 2. Received & Activated on 06/06
 3. Paid off in store on 06/07, $432 exact. Didn't let me pay if off at first, but let me after talking with the manager. Overall smooth experience
 4. Cancelled through customer chat on 06/08. No Activation fee, charged ~11.xx for prorated usage.
Conclusion, $482 + 15$ gelato fee (why would any1 opens ice cream shop beside a Verizion store?) + 2h of time.
Cheapest new option on Craiglist is ~700$. I'd say its a good deal. 8/10

Because the one you're talking about is based on 36 month bill credit meaning you would have to stay with Verizon for 36 months and every month they give you a credit for a portion of the phone cost where you end paying mucho $ to Verizon for the monthly svc. This one doesn't require you to keep their expensive monthly for 36 months.

Likely with device trade in and you were likely on the hook for the entire phone and not $360 if you left the first month.

What are you smoking?

Thanks for confirming you had to stay with them for 3 years instead of cancelling within 3 days like this deal. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Is anyone still waiting for a bill from AT&T after cancelling? I received and paid off the phone on 6/4 and cancelled on 6/5, but haven't received a bill yet. When I log on to the website, it just says $0.00 balance, and "CANCELED" in red above the Current Balance on the Payments screen.

Just a heads up for all the folks who thought they got a free verizon phone. It looks like they finally caught up. Now when I check my IMEI on the trade in site I get the following despite closing out a previous bill that showed no DPP and a final bill that didn't include it either:

"This device is already enrolled in a device payment plan and isn't eligible for trade-in. You can pay off the remaining balance by going to Account, then My Devices, and clicking Pay off. When you're done, click the cart icon to return to your transaction."

Looks like I'm going to have to call or chat and see if they can't sort this out. I thought it was too good to be true lol.

So here is my experience,
 • Ordered S24U on 6/2 fot AT&T. It was shipped via ontrac , ETA was 6/5.
 • Up Until 6/5 EOD, there was no movement on the ontrac site, showed in Fontana CA, I contacted Ontrac and Walmart and both said the package is lost or delayed, on Trac opened a case for me.
 • Phone showed up at my house next day on 6/6
 • There was a physical sim in the phone box which did not activate the phone, there was no esim on it.
 • Up until now I only had an *Estimate* from AT&T for my first bill via an email on 6/2, which does not show a phone number or account number.
 • I contacted AT&T ( in store and via phone) to see if there was any account opened in my name, address or SSN and they could not find anything.
 • I put my existing AT&T sim in the phone and it worked, was also able to just unlock the device normally in my account (no sim swap).

So i guess the million dollar ( or $432) question is, is this a "free" phone or am i going to get a bill from AT&T somehow down the line...

If I'm planning to use this phone on my T-mobile acct, is there any benefit to Verizon over At&t?

I see the Sim swap unlock trick with At&t, is there something similar with Verizon or must I wait the 60 days no matter what?

Is flashing firmware required to use the T-life app? And does either At&t or Verizon version have more/less bloatware?
