For $1,000, it's not bad, but even the LG B4 is better. Considering the B4 is only $200 more, I don't really see why anyone should get this TV. If you're going to get OLED, do it right and go with the better TV. You won't miss that $200 (well, plus tax) in a month. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews.../z85a-oled
I hope its better now, my S95B is dead slow. It's sad that a $30 roku box smokes the processor in an allegedly flagship TV.

LG panel, manufactured by TCL I think
lies. Both LG and Samsung used LG manufactured OLED panels. Panasonics and TCL are not Chinese company, they use cheap materials in their own version of "oled"s.

Nope, they just pulled out of the NA market for a while (disappointingly to many like myself) for business reasons. Basically got squeezed out by low cost Korean mfrs, along with the logistics of greater numbers of returns here and higher support costs in general, but interestingly they kept selling TVs in other markets like nothing happened. Just not plasmas as those were discontinued (unfortunately) right at the same time they pulled out of NA. Basically LG and Samsung were selling plasma's at a loss just to push them out and gain market share. It worked too.

I still have a late model Panny and also a final gen Samsung plasma that work fine. Still great TV's for most 'normal' folks who aren't watching 4k content but plasma couldn't compete with energy consumption requirements, high transportation costs, no 4k, etc., and so they saw the writing on the wall and gave up on it as a technology. Shame because at some things like natural motion smoothness it is still king. Sample and hold displays just cant render motion the same way.
I do miss my plasma sometimes. OLED is the best replacement out there as of right now, but you're absolutely right about the motion. Plasma did motion best.

LG Display mfrs WOLED panels. Samsung Display mfrs QD OLED panels. Both sell the panels to other mfrs like Panasonic, Sony, Phillips, etc.

Confusingly Samsung Electronics buys and uses both types in different TV sizes and in different markets. Makes it a challenge to know what you will get with them. Another good reason to avoid them but the QD panel itself by Samsung Display is excellent and top of the line when someone like Sony implements it. I just don't want Samsung Electronics to make the rest of the TV haha. First world problems I know. The panel is admittedly very good but they seem to be charging a premium to sell them to others so no Bravia II 77 for instance. Shame but oh well buy a LG as the next best thing if you need a 77 for a reasonable price. For 65's there are more options.

So silky smooth and uniform for watching sports like hockey. Uniformity like that is hard to find these days and you need to play the panel lottery if you are the picky sort. Why I like Costco.

I agree. However if we're doing the "if you're gonna do it right" mantra, then I say just go with the C4.

However, using your own references:

RTINGS has the Z85A edging out the B4.

Combined score is identical so pick the things that matter to you like upscaling, brightness, banding, stand, OS, etc. By that glance I like some things of each better haha. I'd prob go with the clean look of the Panny or just step up to the C4 on discount.

Yeah, personally I'd just get the C4 from a Costco sale if were in the market for a new OLED.

yeah, I gave up on finding a uniform TV. I just hope I don't get a really nasty one. DSE was a thing back in the plasma days, more so than this linear type of uneven uniformity we see on OLEDs.

I have the "onn 4K Pro Streaming Device with Google TV Hands-Free Voice Control & Dolby Atmos/Dolby Vision". I got it for a cheaper older TV, and it is really quick. Walmart brand that has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. I may try it on this TV. It's $50 now, but I got it on sale for $40.

You are 100 % correct

Looking for 65" OLED TV like these, mainly want best picture possible and good reliability. Are these the best three options now in the $1000 +/- price range, the Panny Z85 and the LG B4, C4? Or are there others to consider? Getting confused by all the posts above!.....
