All 13th and 14th gen i5 - i9 CPUs 65w and higher are affected by degradation if they are ran without updates. Once degradation starts, there is no undoing it even with the updates
Intel has a 5 year warranty on their CPUs, don't they? You should just be able to call (email ) them up and get it replaced, yes?

Got mine installed. Using a thermaltright AIO 360 for cooling and a 3060ti, 64gb ddr5. Highest temps under stress tests is just touching 85c on p-cores and about 73c on e-cores.

motherboard used was an msi z790 pro wifi. it has a usb slot used for bios update so i did it that way before i installed Windows.

Warranty is good until mid 2030.

Cinebench scores are perfectly n line with what they should be.

no crashes so far with windows 11 but haven't had time to play many cpu stressing games yet.

Not a bad deal, but I think the Woot sale for the 13600kf for $149 back in April was a bit better value wise. This is the next best thing. If you get it, invest in a LGA 1700 contact frame (i.e. Thermal right - $7) and a decent 240mm AIO at minimum. It does run hot while benchmarking with Cinebench, so look into applying a mild undervolt after you test for peak temps the first time.

I prefer 14600k, $15 more to have integrated graphics built in. But for those interested, Woot does have the 13600KF in stock again for $150:

Did you get the code for the 2 games intel bundling with this chip. It showed on Walmart product page.

Worked great, yes. Dead simple to get. Using a Phantom Spirit Thermalright cooler, dual-tower at $36 or so.

I think that's bad advice. A modern $36 air cooler (Phantom Spirit from Thermalright) does as well as typical 240 AIO (granted, won't beat the best of them, but it's 1/2 to 1/5 the price) and is far easier for most people to mount and put into a case. And it can handle far more than a basic i5-14600k.

Heck even the "little" version, the single tower single fan version, the Thermalright Assassin 120 SE Refined, at $17, can handle the i5-14600k. Or the i7-14700k. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-c...-se-review

The need for AIO is massively overstated. If that's the "look" you want, I totally get it, but don't get it because it's needed or it's cost effective; it's neither.
