Elvis strangely amplified song question

2,760 777 May 28, 2025 at 03:11 PM
I was driving a few days ago, and put the radio on scan. It came across an Elvis song, but the amplification in the song was much, much stronger and unusual than the version I remembered ever playing on the oldies station. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the song, and now I am kicking myself for not writing it down.

I've searched for it online, but so far have not come up with this amped up version.

Any Elvis fans, help please. Thanks!

That's kind of a vague description, what do you mean? Vocals were more prominent, the band was louder/different, guitar had distortion? One supposes perhaps it was a live version?

It was probably a different version by Elvis or a remix. Do you recall the lyrics?

According to Wikipedia - Elvis had 113 singles. I think you should start listening to all his songs by decade until you figure out which one it was. Please report back ASAP with your findings.

I'm seeming to remember a bit more - I THINK it was a version of Viva Las Vegas, and the radio announcer was saying something about a certain manufacturer/brand of amps back in 1968 or so, that gave the song a very different sound than the original version.

Strangely, I haven't seemed to be able to find anything at all online about this different version, which is baffling.

That's enough to Google. Try things like: Elvis Viva Las Vegas special sound amplification.
