This is what I have done over the past two promotions: Assume that the account is under "User A"
- Call VZ as User A, set up disconnect date (make sure you are not invalidating any prior promos). Lets call this date January 2nd
- Go to VZ website (Use a CB site, youll usually get a few bucks), sign up for promo as User B. Wait around on the site, maybe reload the page...they will usually toss some additional random giftcard to you in the chat box as a way to get you to actually finish the deal. Sign up for the deal. Set up install date of January 3rd. (any date on or after the disconnect of the other service.
- Create an online profile for your new account as User B. Youll need this profile to get your free swag later.
- You will likely get the equipment mailed to you a few weeks before January 3rd. You can choose to use this equipment or not.
- On January 2nd, probably soon after midnight, your service will turn off as User A. If you are up, NOW you can activate service as User B. Call tech support, tell them you want to turn on service as a new user, and they will check your ONT is good, and youre golden.
- If you can wait until January 3rd, it is likely that the service will re-activate on its own.
- Return equipment that you have as "User A" to a local Fios store.
- The free swag that youre entitled to will be available pretty soon after activation. Consoles are usually a month, and giftcards usually three months.
Other stuff that you can do:
- You can get an extra repeater by calling them later and complaining that the reception sucks. It only works with their router, but its quite strong. This is free.
- See if you can get VZ work rewards to save $10 a month.
BIG YMMV...since it requires 180 days of active service to avoid claw back...if you dont get this activated ASAP, you wont be able to cancel and get any potential BF deals. You can in theory set a install date thats really far out (I set mine for the day after Christmas), but keep this in mind. I wont take the risk, since the holiday deals have yet to let me down.

User A disconnect, User B sign up with new email/account.
When User B disconnect, User A sign up, can you use User A email or use new email?

I use the Panera trick and just add a period to a gmail address
I'm paying $80/month for AT&T 500/500 so this seems like a deal, except I don't want Verizon post paid. 🤷 ♂️

It depends on how many cell tower they have in the location. Wealthy can be a factor.
The wealthier an area, the worse the cell phone reception.
