ALL Insta360 cameras overheat really fast when at max resolution. During the summer this one will shut down due to thermal overload in 2-3 minutes. The X3 did the same for me. The X2 did the same for me. Even the new X5 does the same! You can only use max resolution without fear of thermal shutdown if it is literally snowing outside and you're moving pretty fast to increase wind chill and aid in cooling of the camera's surface. You basically are stuck using medium resolution or medium-low resolution if you don't want it to randomly shut off due to thermal overload all the time. I kept trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and get the newer one each time thinking to myself "they have to have fixed the overheating problem with the new generation" but I was sorely mistaken every single time from the X2 all the way to the X5. Check all the reviews, YouTube, and any other review site and you'll see LOTS of people sharing my same experience with all the Insta360 models.

Getting harder and harder to find in stores. About 50% of them have the item in stock near me. I just bought last week for $430 so the timing couldn't be better. Love those price adjustments.

I've seen 1 YouTuber remove the plastic case because plastic insulates rather than disipates heat, and he attached a large copper heatsink directly to all components that create heat. It made it bigger, it looked ugly, but it completely fixed the overheating problem lol! That's the only fix I've seen that 100% fixes the overheating problem.

Found some in the Bay Area, they were labeled $429 but I asked them to check the price and it came up $359. Picked up one but debating if the X5 is worth the $200 premium.
