The self-propelled version with four 5Ah batteries is $379 (YMMV) at my local store. I was able to get that version on clearance back in October for $250 at another HD. The self-propelled feature is nice but it significantly eats into the battery life. I have found that I don't use it because of that.

I would suggest getting some extra batteries if you can. I was able to get that Makita circular saw deal that was on clearance for $200. That kit had the saw, rapid charger, and two 5Ah batteries. I was able to sell the saw for $90 and the charger for $60 on FB marketplace. So $50 for two 5 Ah batteries was what I ended up with.

The self propel is static speed. Nothing compares to Toro personal pace

This sounds like sooo much hassle I think I'll just keep my 10-year-old Toro running ethanol free gasoline park outside off season with a cover for another 10 years

I can echo that. I have a Kobalt 80v with self propelled motors. It cuts my battery time in half. If I don't use it, I can mow a my entire yard (1/4 acre), and then use the same battery to trim and edge. If I use the self-propelled I'd be lucky to finish mowing.

Battery is worth it though. I'll never own a gas power tool again.

It really isn't though lol I have six batteries and I only go through four for my yard. After I'm done the used batteries go on the charger and the mower goes back into the shed. So glad
I don't have gas

18V? Suspicious that this would work unless you cut your lawn every day

It's 18V x 2= 36V. Cut quality is great with a full battery. I cut once a week and it's been fine. Even with all the rain we have been getting in SE Pennsylvania

The batteries themselves cost almost as much alone. It's like getting the mower free.

So the batteries are connected in series which double the voltage while the amp-hour stays the same as 1 battery?

Yes. It is basically a 40v mower with a bonus that you can use the batteries in your other Makita tools.
