How does it compare to the Samsonite? That was on sale at Costco.

Here's what a reviewer said of the COSTCO Traveler's Choice Granville II. My inference is the carry-on in this set is "European-sized" as opposed to USA carrier-sized. That said, the carry on is expandable.

" The measurements that are listed in the product description are simply WRONG. The carry-on is supposed to be 21.4 x 14 x 9. It is, in fact, 20.5 x 13 x 9. That comes out to 2400 in^2. The max TSA size of 22 x 14 x 9 comes out to 2770 in^2. That means that the carry-on is is 15% smaller than it needs to be for TSA/airline requirements. When I got this suitcase, I was confused because it is a LOT smaller than the carry-on I had in the past. For whatever reason, they've decided to make it smaller than needed -- which makes this a pretty useless carry-on to own. When you want to travel light, every inch counts. I wanted to get a carry-on that was the maximum allowed by the TSA -- this is not it. The larger suitcase is 19.5" x 12" x 28", which is only slightly smaller than listed."

That said, if you are looking for the maximum carry-on size to satisfy the what the reviewer stated, then the Sam's club deal in the link below with a lifetime warranty for only $10 more ($139.99) would be far better. This carry-on is also further expandable. Note that even if you are not a Sam's member you can buy it but have to pay a 10% surcharge which would mean $13.99 surcharge, the cost of 2 cups of Starbucks.

The last time I checked the stock about 2 hours ago, there were 7 units in grey, 17 units in blue and 17 units in pink.

Mine so far lasted 2 Japan trips, that's a lot of rolling on the road. I like it. A little tempted to buy more.

I am assuming you are referring to this one at $150 that is out of stock?

https://www.costco.com/samsonite-...10893.html

They are both polycarbonate but the Travel's Granville has a smaller carry on. the Samsonite may also have a slightly bigger checked luggage. But if you have to spend $150, you might as well get the Slickdeals Front Page Calpak that is only $30 more at this link.

https://www.costco.com/calpak-evr...94990.html

The better deal would be the Members Mark luggage at $139.99 for which it is sold out in all colors except for pink of which there are now only14 units in stock

The Frontpage deal in the link below for $139.99 also has HINOMOTO wheels and i think it is the better one as it also has YKK zippers all over as opposed only to the "main" section in the Traveler's Choice.

Great set. I have it. The large luggage hasn't broken after flying maybe 5-8 times. As someone has mentioned, the small luggage could maybe be an inch larger to "max out" the carry on size.

Has the HINOMOTO wheels and has a polycarbonate shell which are two things I look for in a new luggage.

Oh, and best of all, the Costco warranty…

Aren't US carriers gradually shifting to the European carry-on standard anyway? Pretty sure it was AA that was getting really stingy about it.

Unfortunately the carry on at Sams Club exceeds the 145 linear inches as required by airlines

The TSA has nothing to do with carry-on sizes.

The maximum size dimensions for US airlines carry-on baggage is 45 inches, though even going to 47 may easily seem fine, because several popular 47" total dimension size carry-on luggage have been tested at airport sizing machines, plus they expand even more! For instance, the TravelPro V2 (https://travelpro.com/products/ma...e-spinner?) and TravelPro Platinum ( https://www.amazon.com/Travelpro-...09V3FFJF3/) are 23 x 14.5 x 9.5 = 47", and the Samsung Omni (https://www.amazon.com/Samsonite-...013WFNS12?) is 22 x 15 x 9.5 = 46.5.

The Sams Club Members Mark luggage is 22.2 x 14.5 x 9.2 = 45.9" plus it gives you the ability to expand! I have identical luggage and have had no issues on domestic and transatlantic international flights. If I had to complain, it's that the Members Mark wasn't even larger to be 47" before the expansion like it is in the case of the TravelPro V2 and Platinum, and Samsonite OMNI.

Note that the carry on in the COSTCO "Traveler's Choice Granville II" is only 20.5 x 13 x 9 = 42.5 which is NOTICEABLY SMALLER. So, even if it expands, you are starting from a much smaller base.

If you are a scady cat or fly Spirt Airlines or European LCCs, by all means, go for the smaller luggage. But if you fly regular US airlines, on transatlantic flights on foreign airlines, you will have zero issues with the Sams Club Members Mark.
