I'm an Apple user for the last 15 yrs and must say this, what in the world is Apple still living in with 256GB hard drive and 16GB of RAM? the computer is laggy with 5 different browsers opening at the same time with 16GB already! at least you should get 32GB of RAM nowadays. Also, the Ipad recently got upgraded to 128GB storage as minimum, it was ridiculous to have 64GB nowadays on the ipad!
I guess companies are trying to force people to use their cloud storage and pay more for it, but I'm still an old school guy who loves local storage, I dont care if I have cloud connection if I'm in the wood or in remote areas.

Why are u suddenly surprised about this being 256GB/16GB, if you have experience w/ a Mac Mini M4, the base specs are exactly the same…

I don't think he stated the specs he has, but obviously he hasn't used a M processor if he thinks 5 tabs or browsers open is lagging. Why do you need 5 browsers anyway? 5 tabs? I can run 5 tabs with ease on a 8Gb M1 iMAC.
