Get Dell Technologies coupons
I have an Alienware Aurora R12 and when I tried to boot it up today I got an error message. when I followed the error to the dell site, I was told to replace the HD: https://www.dell.com/support/home...&uID=0CB 01
I do not need a crazy large drive as most stuff is on my NAS. just need for os and apps.
Suggestions?
would this fit and be a good choice: https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/1986328822
any advice on how to get software and operating system off old drive and onto new one?

It looks like your PC ships with a NVME OS drive and a 1TB regular drive. So that drive you linked (or any other NVME or M.2 SSD can replace your OS drive.
You'll want to clean install a fresh OS. You can create a Windows USB installer using another computer.

For apps, it's best to just reinstall them. It is possible to clone the drive, but tbh it's kinda nice to start fresh and ditch all your unneeded apps and bugs it may have had. Also I would not recommend cloning a bad drive as some files may be corrupt.
Do you need any personal files off the old drive? If so you can get a USB-NVME enclosure to turn your old drive into an external drive and copy your files from that.
Feel free to reply to me if you have any questions or run into any problems
