AI search says The best time to visit Japan is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) due to pleasant weather, minimal rain, and the vibrant colors of cherry blossoms or fall foliage.
September is no longer an autumn season. These days the summer heat continues on through to the end of the month.
August is miserably hot in many parts of Japan. June-July are the rainy season, whose length can be as short as ten days and as long as a month (Hokkaido does not have the rainy season, by the way). Unless you must, I do not recommend visiting Japan in summer.

Last I went to Japan was March and the weather is beautiful with very few days of rain. With it being summer and I average 15k steps per day. Sounds pretty rough assuming it's super humid and hot during summer being Asia. Anyone wants to chime in ?

September is THE typhoon month. July and August can get typhoons, too, but pretty rare in July.

I went 2 years ago around mid - September for two weeks and it was not the hottest it can get, but it was pretty damn hot at around 85-90F with 90% humidity in Tokyo Kyoto and Osaka. It felt muggy and me and my friends were sweating profusely while we were outside. We were walking around 20Kish steps a day and we'd be completely wiped out by nighttime. I will say it did cool down a little closer to the end of September, so YMMV.

Seems like Zipair is only worth it now if you're from LA/flying out of LA, and a super light packer. The recent price increase for checked baggage sucks, their limit for a carry on is almost impossible to pack for a 1-2 week trip. Looks like they're almost on par with regular carriers now, maybe only a tad cheaper, say, $50 or so - but their restrictions and rules are pretty off putting.

I went in the summer a couple of years ago, September to be specific, and I was sweating through my clothes everyday. The heat and humidity was so overwhelming

Summers in Japan are absolutely brutal. It'll be like 99 degrees with 99% humidity, so doing 15K steps in that kind of weather will have you looking like you came out of the shower. Unless you enjoy hot weather and high humidity, I'd avoid summers.

Another chiming in that summertime is brutal in Japan!! If you have a kid in school you're talking is about the only reason to go during this time, because good luck finding another time to go for over a week... Would not recommend goin in summer months unless you have no other option!

I went in September last year expecting autumn temps and it was some of the most miserable heat I've ever experienced.

DO NOT visit Japan in the summer.

I was miserable in July. You cannot be outside for longer than 5 minutes.
