The ES Series, especially the ES55... is an EXCELLENT value at this price. A close friend is using them in his basement theater, and they hit well above their weight and are extremely musical right out of the box. If you're in the market, they are a good buy.

Same setup I'm still rocking. Still have a NIB set of 40's in case I ever decided to go with a 7.1 setup and couldn't get the Monitors anymore. Paired with a DSW505 and it's still chugging along 10+ years later.

Yes its all about the tweeter, i have the 60s as a satellite speaker now, Ithink the bass is good or better, but the tweeter is no contest. The new ES tweeter is a noticeable upgrade from the monitor 2 series, great soundstage and clarity.

Those XTs are clearly low power, two of those ports are passive, bi amping this, while normally dubious, is just silly with this entry level speaker.
