I love these little 1:24 scale crawlers.

For those unfamiliar with them, they're really small and geared quite low, so they don't race around. They have flexible suspension and are meant for going slowly around and on obstacles. There is some difference between the SCX24 models (Mine is the Deadbolt), and there is a whole world of modding them, from frame to suspension to tires.

It's a lot of fun, and just about anyone could find room to play with one of these, indoor or outdoor.

I have no prior RC experience, but I am into offroading. Got myself the Axial GX430 1/24 model a week ago and been having an absolute blast. I may pick up this Jeep for my son. Well worth the price.

I have an FCX24 Smasher [motionrc.com] truck. I love it. Lots of fun, and everyone who plays with it enjoys it too. As a Jeep driver, I'd love to pick up a Jeep body for it, but I must say from these pictures, the body looks a bit more rounded and toy-like, than a realistic miniature.

As someone who started with these trucks several years ago, I would recommend against this one unless you really want to upgrade it yourself. Axial hasn't refreshed this truck in a long time, and its electronics and servos are mediocre. Of the trucks in the 1/18 or 1/24 scale market, these feel cheaper and more toy-like than some of the competitors. If you want decent out-of-the-box performance and nicely detailed scale bodies, I'd recommend the FCS24M (1/24 scale), or the FCX18 and FCX24 (both more like 1/18 scale, despite the name). The Traxxas TRX4M is also good, but personally I find the controller oversized. If you care less about how realistic the truck looks, the Hobby Plus CR-18P Evo Pro is one of the best crawling performers in the ready-to-run category. There are other brands with newish offers that I haven't looked in to as well, from Redcat, Losi, Arrma, HobbyWing, etc. That said, this platform still reigns supreme as far as availability of aftermarket parts, so it's a good place to get started if you're a tinkerer.

Great, now if I can just lose 96% of my body mass, I could tool around in a great looking car with the Geico gekko.
