I have the same model, 2 of them, and they're still running smooth/strong after 5 years. They both have 91/92 battery capacity as well.

Yes, screen/specs are better on the newer model but I don't notice the increase in power. What is clearly evident is the difference in weight in the two ~13" models. The m4 is so much more comfortable to hold and use than the m2 version because it is thinner and lighter.
I believe the difference is something like 100g or 3.5 ounces which makes a big difference over longer periods of holding the device.
