Haha. you have no idea obviously. Nintendo did their Direct without having prices on the video because they anticipated tariffs to affect their stuff. The console is made in Vietnam but even that country was going to get a % raise in tariffs. it was even said only their accessories would be affected at launch and they would eat the extra cost add to the console since it's minimal (some parts of it is still made in China). Nintendo has stated they can still end up being forced to raise the price post launch. Those Amiibos going from $15.99 to $29.99 wasn't jacked up so high just because of profits.
You do know tarrifs haven't effected any of this stuff right?
Literally every single accessory went up in price after the initial Nintendo Direct. They announced prices, then a couple weeks later, they announced everything went up by 5-10% each, and it was 100% because of tariffs.
Now that the Nintendo Switch 2 is officially out, pricing and availability is available now at retail partners. Switch 2 Pro controller retails for $85. Costco (membership required) has it listed for $75. Thats $10 off retail for a 1st party item. Not often do you see sales on OEM stuff.

Not quite true. Certain tariffs are on hold for now. But I work with major retail chains and vendors that supply their in store displays, often working with brands for custom displays. I can tell for 100% certain that most vendors and many brands are already nudging up their prices in anticipation. They'd rather it be a gradual increase than big jump (frogs in hot water analogy). And they're really squeamish about the uncertainty of when/if the tariffs will hit, and how to forecast for them. Also, while the reciprocal tariffs are paused, increased tariffs for materials like steel and aluminum are still in effect, and having a big impact in a lot of segments.

$10 cheaper is great. Pre inflation these were probably $25
pre inflation was likely $69.99. the price of the previous pro controller. pre inflation amiibos were $15.99. $19.99 post inflation, but now $29.99 post tariff. The Street Fighter amiibos at $40 is insane.

It's not that each item was directly affected, it's that Nintendo as a company wants to establish a consistent price and they have to assume some/most of the product will be affected. So it gets priced in.
