It's been the Strat for nearly a decade.

I hope so too, I can't find any good deals on hotels closer to the strip action for July 4.

Just stayed at strat this weekend. Was forced to upgrade due to sold out basic rooms + floors being renovated... My price went from $143 to $212. Still the cheapest option but it's just a motel 6 room with no locking bathroom.

Was the upgraded room better?

Vegas is well over 100 degrees most days in the summer.
That probably explains the discount.

Be prepared for a hike if you stay here and plan on going to any of the decent casinos. There's walking the strip and then there's walking from the Stratosphere.

IMHO it is really sad to see what Vegas has become and I won't even go to conferences there even if work is paying for it. I'm not judgy but I really dislike the smell of weed literally everywhere and the homeless situation is a borderline crisis. I used to get comps like crazy from my go-to Harrahs/Caesars properties but those days are long gone as their has just been too much new money supply for the casinos to pay any attention to their most loyal customers. Even my favorite perk of getting free drinks while gambling is almost impossible to pull off as you never see wait staff. For those that still enjoy a Vegas trip, hopefully this sale is the start of a trend that will bring the skyhigh prices back down to earth for at least a while and maybe get a few of us old foggies back there.

Do people just come online and lie? Why would people do that?

That's five years, not nearly a decade. Come on, man.

May I suggest buying a (unlimited) local transportation pass for the time period you will be there. The busses are air conditioned.

The Las Vegas Monorail [lvmonorail.com] goes up and down the Strip, and stops at the Sahara, across from the Strat.

They were calling it the STRAT for a decade, the "legal" name change was 2020.
