Yeah too bad it's not a licensed copy that you don't own, and can't sell back later. Too bad it makes you get up from your seat for a whopping 5 seconds to insert a disc.
Decent price. The campaign is the best in recent years. Not mind blowing, but above average.

It's free for those with gamepass.
Requires Internet even for single campaign.

You can't play the single player game without logging in to a server, you don't own anything outright.
Uhh ton's of games with no server login. Clair Obscure is recent example.

I always opt for the physical because at least I can attempt to sell it. That said, you're right - once the game isn't supported, it's a coaster. I haven't felt as if I own my games (outside of the plastic and paper) in years. Look at Destiny 2, people bought all this DLC and they ended up taking it away lol. Heck, some of the physical games are digital - as in, open the sealed case and you get a digital code.

Stopped playing COD online with my buddies a couple years ago (MW2 2022). Seems they also got burnt out as well, only playing this one for a couple months before finding a different game, but $20 is a good sweet spot for me to play the campaign and zombies. At the very least I can beat it and likely make my $20 back.

Xbox showcase was yesterday. Black Ops 7 is the next COD releasing this year (no Modern Warfare or other alternating subfranchise).

They mean Black Ops 6 specifically requires online download in order for the campaign to function, AND additionally there is always-online DRM present even for the campaign. The last COD that was complete on disc was Infinite Warfare back in 2016.
The way the last few CODs have worked is even if you have the disc version, there is barely anything on it so you still need to download the entirety of the main COD "hub" up to the latest version, and then download separate campaign DLC "packs" for your specific game.

Google it. COD is full of hackers and cheats. The game is unplayable.
I used to play religiously every title but just quit. Unless you want to play single player campaigns, don't waste your money

Or you're just not good

As someone who used to buy physical versions of games, the digital ones are a huge quality of life upgrade.
The resell price of most games is nothing anyways; I'm sure Gamestop will give you $0.25 - $10 max for most games over a couple months old.

I used to collect them and have a nice display. Switching to digital has been awesome as you have a whole library available to you from the home screen. There is no quality drop like you get from 4K UHD discs versus Streaming.. There's no finding the disc and swapping them, hoping the disc doesn't have disc rot in a few years. There's the ability to get free/cheap upgrades to it on other consoles.. the ability to play games across multiple consoles (Xbox in the living room, Xbox in the bedroom) without carrying discs back and forth.

I have some games on Physical that I can't even find anymore. I can't play them.

Not to mention being able to use stuff like the PS Portal from outside of the house when you might not have an option to just 'swap discs'.

I like the idea of a physical games collection, but after owning a quite large one for decades, I'm past it now and want the convenience. It's not just "getting up for 5 seconds to switch discs"

Got one, although I should have tried to price match at Best Buy first—shipping added another $6.99.
On the digital ownership of games conversation, I spent so much money on PS3 games that I can't really use anymore. I am now opting to only purchasing a hard copy for my PS5.

Why can't you use your PS3 games anymore? I can still download demos that I first downloaded in 2006. My entire digital PS3 library is still available. I do prefer physical for most PS3 games since the version on the disc is mostly the same as the what you get after installing the patches. But with modern games, the patches are so transformative that the disc version is normally significantly outdated a few months after release. That is if it's even playable without a patch. So these days I just buy whichever format is cheaper. There are many PS Store deals that remain unbeaten by sales on disc copies.

I tried price matching Gamestop's Modern Warfare III deal at Best Buy a few weeks ago, but the agent told me GS wasn't on the list of stores they could match.
