The way the last few CODs have worked is even if you have the disc version, there is barely anything on it so you still need to download the entirety of the main COD "hub" up to the latest version, and then download separate campaign DLC "packs" for your specific game.

I used to play religiously every title but just quit. Unless you want to play single player campaigns, don't waste your money
Or you're just not good
The resell price of most games is nothing anyways; I'm sure Gamestop will give you $0.25 - $10 max for most games over a couple months old.
I used to collect them and have a nice display. Switching to digital has been awesome as you have a whole library available to you from the home screen. There is no quality drop like you get from 4K UHD discs versus Streaming.. There's no finding the disc and swapping them, hoping the disc doesn't have disc rot in a few years. There's the ability to get free/cheap upgrades to it on other consoles.. the ability to play games across multiple consoles (Xbox in the living room, Xbox in the bedroom) without carrying discs back and forth.
I have some games on Physical that I can't even find anymore. I can't play them.
Not to mention being able to use stuff like the PS Portal from outside of the house when you might not have an option to just 'swap discs'.
I like the idea of a physical games collection, but after owning a quite large one for decades, I'm past it now and want the convenience. It's not just "getting up for 5 seconds to switch discs"
On the digital ownership of games conversation, I spent so much money on PS3 games that I can't really use anymore. I am now opting to only purchasing a hard copy for my PS5.

Why can't you use your PS3 games anymore? I can still download demos that I first downloaded in 2006. My entire digital PS3 library is still available. I do prefer physical for most PS3 games since the version on the disc is mostly the same as the what you get after installing the patches. But with modern games, the patches are so transformative that the disc version is normally significantly outdated a few months after release. That is if it's even playable without a patch. So these days I just buy whichever format is cheaper. There are many PS Store deals that remain unbeaten by sales on disc copies.
