Bought this a week ago. Can confirm they are Realtek NICs.
You don't. You wipe it first and install clean OS.
Almost bought this but looked around and found this [amazon.com]. It's dual 2.5GB Intel NIC and 512GB memory for $149.99.

In 2024, the AceMagic AD08 mini PC was caught shipping with factory-installed spyware including Redline Stealer malware that could survive Windows reinstalls because it was embedded in the recovery partition. Of course wiping all partitions and recreating them made it safe though.

And that originated from using a custom sysprep installation ISO from a third party that got infected somewhere along the way, rather than an official one from Microsoft.

Was it lazy on their part? Entirely. Malicious, not so much.

Anyone could have made the same mistake by downloading some of these "Windows Lite" modified ISOs that get passed around.

If you want a custom install, build it yourself.

Anything will run Plex, including a Raspberry Pi and even some routers.

If you're asking about transcoding, 1-3 streams, depending on resolution and complexity.

But, the only time you should need to transcode is with remote viewing.

If you have antiquated hardware on your network that requires transcoding, it's probably time to retire it.

USB-C powered, it'd pretty cool portable computer if you can use the single port to connect to a docking station

I wonder if you can use a USBC hub with PD passthrough...

What is up with all the N150 / N95 mini PCs on sale lately? Its great that these are efficient. Good for Internet, YouTube and streaming, but don't expect to perform well in gaming.

Picked up the 512gb version for my dad to get him into something that's not 10 years old and abysmally slow. Is the Windows install safe to run on these out of the box or do you need to wipe/reinstall? If you reinstall, are the keys properly recognized on boot via digital cert already stored at MS?
good question, wondering the same thing.

It's digital so when you reinstall it should automatically recognize. Just make sure, you install the correct one. As a safety you can get store the product key before reinstalling it by opening the CMD prompt with admin and typing below command.
wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

That brings the question, does it has window 11 pro or home?

Turns out dad doesn't want a micro-PC, he wants a new laptop at a higher price. I killed the order before it shipped. But still wondering...

I'm gonna guess Home, the license for Pro costs a bit more.

Thanks for the product key command line info. Saving that to my toolkit!

It says pro but I'd be very surprised if that's true. I'll find out tomorrow or Saturday (just ordered it).

Does this thing even come with Windows? The amazon page just states OS in the operating system field.
It comes with Win11. Supposedly the volume key they use is suspect, but as an end user you'll never have to worry about it.

Lots of us run these things as headless servers w/ Ubuntu Server + Docker

Can these PCs be placed somewhere that gets no ventilation like inside a closed cabinet and run 24/7?
