Gearwrench is hit or miss, but these 120XPs are winners! Silky smooth, nice affordance/ergonomics, small head (great for access) and a great warranty.

Big box store oriented Gearwrench tools are typically made in China to a lower price point and it shows. Real tool stores/trucks will have the much higher quality Taiwanese made Gearwrench tools like this one. There are probably some exceptions, but if you can find out where it's made, you can usually avoid the less desirable Gearwrench choices.

I'm not sure if there are any downsides to the locking version, seems like it just has the added benefit of being able to lock the angle if you want

But the locking version is about 70% more expensive than this one at the moment, and I'm just a DIY guy who won't use it often enough

I think locking head is more of a preference so if it's preferred would depend on who you ask. In certain cases the locking feature could come in handy but those certain situations can still be accomplished without the locking feature. For my general use I like the non locking head.

Does this model have a slim head on it. Looking for one to get into some tight spots. Matco and SnapOn have a version but way overpriced

Locking heads prevent accidental swivelling with accompanied knuckle bashing. They take longer to adjust so many professional mechanics prefer the non-locking style because they speed things up, and they're cheaper.

It appears to be pretty slim and the one product image on the page says 22% more compact than their previous models

This looks really competitive to the icon G2 3/8 ratchets with comfort grip and without the locking head. I think the new icon is also around $70
