This is a pretty terrible deal when you consider this exists: https://slickdeals.net/f/18368614-157-98-gmktec-mini-pc-n150-16gb-ddr4-512gb-pcie-m-2-ssd-at-amazon
I thought the DDR5 was a huge jump though. Thoughts?

On a mini pc based on intel N series, nominal if any performance gains from what I understand. Newer processors and graphics card setups more-so. If you're thinking about future proofing a mini pc, you're doing it wrong.

No the thing is the n100/150 are bandwidth starved because its only got one memory channel which is also shared with the igp, so that ddr5 makes a big difference.

Using ddr4 nerfs a n150 to some what less than an n100 with ddr5

I belive the N97 is the superior processor though. Of the 95, 97, and 150, it's the fastest I think.

N97 uses a little more power, but generally has better performance.

For reference, an N150 16GB 512GB runs for 120-130. Aint no way this is a deal.

Those noting N97 is fastest — it's like comparing one F1 car to 2 years ago's F1 car. The difference is negligible.

I think this is a pretty legit combo for someone who (1) wants an intel N based mini pc, (2) with ddr5, (3) usb-c power, (4) in a smaller than average mini pc foot print. I got the g5 in the fall because I favored intel (for plex server hosting), n97 to try to squeak out a couple more frames in age of empires, and portability. I wish I'd gotten the 512gb instead of 256gb…I'm using the sd slot for storage, and fyi it's usb 2.0 speeds.

Standard pricing for this....in fact, it's been lower on several occasions.
