Find a nice clean used Weber Performer on your favorite used marketplace site. Its a way better grill, it will be half the price of this and it will use 1/3 of the charcoal that this uses. Also it will have its legendary even heat without the hot spots this has.

No. It is very thin sheet metal.

Ceramic kamado (big green egg, kamado joe, etc.) is what I would recommend for the best charcoal grill and fine for beginners. Used is ok because they last forever if you take care of them.

Weber is ok too but just less insulation/heat retention vs ceramic.

Weber grill with the hinged door grate (sometimes must be purchased optionally) is awesome for someone looking for a solid grill at an affordable price.

Ceramic holds heat better, but the Weber kettle is a proven, reliable option.
