Pretty good deal for this device. FYI that this chipset will comfortably run up to PS1, and are hit or miss (more miss than hit) on N64 and PSP, which is where you'd see joystick usage. While PS1 was famous for introducing dual shock, most if not all games primarily used the d-pad.

I was pretty hard up originally on wanting a device with joysticks but after research, landed on the TrimUI brick which has a similar chip and have been having a great time with the d-pad, playing a ton of Game Boy Advance. I got the 35XXSP for my 6 year old son who's loving that too.

Note - these devices come with a bunch of ROMs, a lot which are the same from different regions. You'll want to blow all that away and load in your own custom rom set. You'll also want to install a custom OS. I strongly suggest Knulli.
Ships within the US. These are US inventory.
Get retroid pocket 4 or 5 or flip. All do ps2, gamecube, wii and some switch.

This is exactly my only problem with my RG40XX H- all of these devices seem made for tiny hands. To solve it, I 3d-printed a grip for it that works great:
https://makerworld.com/en/models/...eId-741437

I'm still confused on what they were thinking with the location of the right stick- it def gets in the way (a grip helps though because it moves your hand so it's coming in from a better angle). I have half a mind to open the case and straight-up remove the right stick- I never use it.

They make ones for the RG35XX H too. I would love if someone would model some grips with PlayStation-style grips though- imo no one has ever improved on the PlayStation controller design as far as comfort.

Thank you, I never got into 3D printing but this is a very useful option and thanks for sharing with everyone. I really wanted to buy one of these "just for the heck of it" because I know it will be another novelty item that I probably won't use that much, but nevertheless I wanted, however I didn't want one that won't be comfortable or too small. I don't mind non-pocketability but I prefer ease of use without cramping my hands. I always thought even nintendo switch was built too cramped/thin, yes it's built for portability but still.

There is a new deal on RG34XX today but no HDMI on that.

Hopefully i'll find one to re-live old days one day.

My favorite retro handheld that I never play or use.
It still has a valuable role.
It stops me from buying more retro handhelds. 😅

In case it's helpful, there's a guy who sells grips as well, so you don't need a 3d printer if you want to get a grip for your console:

I'm seeing those at $150-$200. Is there something cheaper? Otherwise they may be cool, but not comparable to the OP

I just want something for the pokemons, silver, gold, etc and wont hurt my hands. I am looking at the rg556 as a possibility if wasn't so expensive due to the handle grips built in.

anything other that I could look at? dont want cramping hands. dont want to pay 20 bucks for a 3d printed grip either.

This code also works on the RG40XX-H which brings it to about $45. It might work on all the devices in their store, I bought the 35xx-h and a 40xx-h and the code worked on both of them. But I had to do it in separate tx.

The rg556 isn't more expensive because of the grips lol, it's more expensive because it has a much faster chip and a big beautiful OLED screen. The T820 in the rg556 is capable of playing most PS2, Wii, PSP, and Gamecube games. The H700 in the rg35xx-h is only capable of playing some of the lightweight PSP games and none of the 6th gen game systems. The screen is a gorgeous 1080p, 5.48" OLED with 102% color gamut and 402ppi pixel density. It's a looker. You definitely get a MUCH better device for the money, the rg556 is a good device. The RG557 is even better with a dimensity 8300 chipset in it. But I don't think the extra cost is worth it, You're better off getting a Retroid Pocket 5 for $220 + $40 shipping for the same price as the RG557. Or just go big all the way to an Ayn Portal or Ayaneo Pocket EVO or DMG with a snapdragon 8 gen 2 on the portal or a snapdragon G3X Gen 2 on the ayaneo devices if you're going to spend that much, then you can emulate switch too. I have a Pocket Evo and it's legit, the full size console controller like high poll rate Hall effect sticks make a massive difference. The 7" OLED sure is nice too. That's the one on top there, the one on the bottom is the RG Cube. The other pics are my collection of handhelds.

If you gotta have handles I don't think there's many good budget options with them. the 556 is a great device I think you'll really be happy with it it's faaar superior to these budget devices. You could try the RG CubeXX, it's about $55, has the same H700 chip as the rg35xx and rg40xx with a 1:1 screen and has good ergonomics. It's got protruding bumps on the back, you can get a $5-$7 silicone rubber case for it like the one in that pic that add a lot of grip too.

$4 more for the 4.0" screen, went that route, you can use code AEUS10 as that is site wide code and it will take $10 off of $50.... there are a bunch of other site wide codes that could be used for more expensive units like $20 off of $100 which I think is SSS020, AEUS40 (40 off $200), etc..

It is, i REALLY recommend getting the silicone case, it's under $5 with free shipping and it has little rubber bump grips on the back that make it much more comfortable to hold, not only that but it fits like a glove and protects your device from scratches and even offers some protection from minor shocks like a short drop. I get them for every device I can they are really great. That and you wanna get a Tempered glass screen protector for it too. Those run like $3-4 bucks. With both those your device is much better protected from damage.

Here's the silicone case for $5:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...0064.html?

here's the Glass screen protector for $3.21 I'm pretty sure the XX version only comes with the cheap plastic fild protector, you don't want one of those you really wanna get a glass one.

You might want to consider getting a device with a 3:4 aspect screen then if GBA is your focus, something like the V10 from powkiddy. I got my V10 for like $30. The RG CubeXX is best for old school GB and GBC with the 1:1 screen. 3:4 is the native aspect ratio of the GBA. But the 1:1 is what most arcade games were so the rgcube is really good for most arcade games. I have the regular RG Cube which is just a more powerful android version of the same device. I love it. It's great.
