Failed after 1 month of occasional use. While Amazon refunded the value of the drive. Lost the data on the drive which has far more value

That's a good point. I've got a spare M.2 enclosure AND two 128GB or larger M.2 drives in a box on my shelf.
Thanks for sharing. Ten years ago, good USB 3.0 drives could maintain 50MB/s for entire large video transfers.
Yes, lots of flash memory products have gone to shit, probably due to companies switching to using TLC and even QLC NAND. Even the big brands are not immune. My old Samsung Pro SD cards can easily write data at 60-80MB/s non stop. The newer Samsung Pro Plus SD cards I bought in the last couple of years can't match that.
Step 2) buy $12 orico 2230 enclosure
Step 3) donate all thumb drives to starving children in Africa
Step 4) profit

PNY has the advantage over Amazon Basics for reliability as well; a step above the budget thumb drives. Not Samsung or SanDisk, but probably among the best quality/price ratio.
Then there is no worrying about speeds. The thing is superhuman. The fact that people don't know it exists is mind numbing.
"mind numbing" that people don't know it exists?
Aside from the absurd phrasing, how hyperbolic can you possibly get? Yikes
