It's hard to say that the new one is worth almost double this price. But I actually think it is with the new one's better low-light mode, replaceable lenses, and more capable processing power that allows you things like setting a vantage point while still recording 360 video.

Or at least, for my uses in casual documentation of family vacations and bike rides what not – anything that lessens the hassle of needing to edit and reframe the videos and then export them… well that's worth a couple hundred dollars of my time.

But to that end, I'm not really going to find these cameras truly easy to use until the ai onboard or in the computer/phone is good enough to automatically output decent flat videos.

Where are you finding the x5 for $355? Costco has it for $549 with extra battery and 256 gig memory card. I haven't seen nor heard it anywhere near $355.
Dell.com. Read my post.

Thank you for that. And I see that you edited your post to change the Dell discount code from 15% to 10%.

I just replicated your deal as outlined and pulled the trigger. I just hope the cash back portion works (I had never heard of that site and it looks Chinese).

The X5 is a specialty camera, and the image quality is not quite there yet... note it records 8-bit color!
but I have been wanting one for years and the X5 is "acceptable". The MAX, X3 and X4 are simply not good enough.
The X5 is worth the $355-400 to me. It may not be for other people...
360° Cameras really need bigger size sensors for better light capture. But size, heat management and power draw are still an issue... so they may still be another 2-3 years out to stay below $500 and this size.
Learn more about it in this video: https://youtu.be/yrLidLqksgM?si=dwAT8Y-yvNA0SveC
I'm glad you could replicate the deal. Fingers crossed for the CB. I used this site twice last year, and the amounts are "payable" for those transactions. (I haven't asked for a check yet.)

Re quality, I know. This is the first 360 camera I bought. The video quality is indeed barely acceptable. Less than half of the surface area of the sensors are used (image circle in the middle of the sensor only), so maybe 30 square mm of the 75 square mm sensors each? Focus is unacceptable underwater. 8-bit video only. Huge distortions due to fisheye lenses in front of flat sensors, massive motion blur in low light video for fats moving subjects (to be expected)... The list goes on. The necessary accessories cots a lot. I'm not convinced I will use this camera much. But I thought at this price it's worth trying it out. I note that none of the Youtubers who are hyping it (for money) ditched their FF setups for it...🤪🤣 I think I have realistic expectations. I'm bringing this thing on vacation now in addition to my FF camera and an Insta360 Flow 2 Pro for my phone. It's another 10 years before 360 cameras have good image quality. I just thought the premium for the X5 is totally worth it over the X4. Hence my OG post here.

The dell version doesn't have self stick, extra battery or memory card though. It's not a bundle
It does not. When you buy your accessories, you can buy what you actually need / want. I don't want that selfie stick. I ordered a 3M one and a bullet time 2.0. I have plenty of SD cards. Ordered a case that includes screen protectors and a lens cover, etc.

If you don't need high quality audio and low-light video because you only want to use it in perfect light, the X4 is fine. Enjoy!

That's a nice price.I still went with the X5. $355.41+tax on Dell.com after all the discounts you can get. My reasons for choosing the X5 over the X4: 1. 144% larger sensors = 2.44x as much light gathered. 2. The X5 is the first 360 camera that shoots usable video in low light. (The X4's low light video is unusable.)3. You can swap out the X5's lens at home for $30 when it inevitably gets scratched up. 4. Significantly better audio.5. Better AI algorithms.6. Better Dynamic Range. You can get the X5 at Dell.com for $550 - 10% off if you sign up as a new customer (using a new email address if you are already a registered customer, the customized coupon comes in minutes) - $100 if you have an Amex card (you'll need to add this benefit on Amex' website first) - $39.59 CB via Rebb$bate$$me = $355.41 + tax is what I paid five days ago. Just arrived. CB showing as "Pending", which is normal.Dell.com also has the X4.EDIT: Those of you voting this comment down don't understand digital imaging technology. I own multiple professional cameras. I buy most of my technology products "refurbished" (usually brand new, just labeled refurbished for price discrimination) and often buy last year's model. This time, the low light capability improvement is so massive, it makes no sense to buy the X4 for $300 when you can buy the X5 for $355. Also, I know I will drop this camera many times. Being able to swap out the front element of the lens for $30 at home in two minutes is well worth the price difference alone.
Thanks man! I've been looking for the X5!

What is the warranty on this and does Costco give any extra warranty? Any insights will be helpful. Thanks!

This will be my first Insta360 for snowboarding videos, do you recommend the x4 or x5? Is the x5 worth the extra $250?
X5 if you have the extra cash if not, this will work just fine, I have the X5. but this price point is great for value.
