I'd skip on these if I were you guys. Bought this exact one when it went on a w00t deal, and that lasted only around 6 months. Braided cords are superior.

I usually like amazon basics, but this cable is not very great. 15w charging, and USB 2.0 transfer speeds are bottom of the barrel. You can get similar cables at 5below for $5-$6 all day.

The power (wattage) rating is misleading.


This cable is rated for 3A. At the basic 5V Power Delivery mode this will indeed be limited to 15W charging. However, at up to 3A but at the 20V Power Delivery mode this same cable will deliver up to 60W of charging. And this continues upwards when considering newer Power Delivery modes such as 28V, etc.

USB cables (as is the case for most power cables) are rated for their current carrying capacity rather than total power.

I'm confused how this can be limited to 15W. The USB C standard requires 60W minimum.
