I also can confirm that its been this price on their website for a very long time.
I have this exact 7700x bundle. Its a great bundle, great hardware. For $50 more ($429.99) it may make sense to go with the 9700x bundle for the newer chip but the 7700x is still a great processor.

So it says in big 'ol bold letters that combo's have to be returned as a set; it seems like you can add the pieces to the cart individually, and the cart gets adjusted to the combo price, but each piece is still listed individually. Does anyone know if you can return a piece when ordered like that? Like, turning around and returning the ram to buy something faster/better timed off Amazon or something?

They would greatly discount your returned item. In the case of ram - it would be like $0.99 or something when I checked. You can upgrade to corsair ram for $10, but I'm not sure what timings that ram upgrade has; I assume CL36 still.

I bought the 7600X3D bundle about 6 months ago and am loving it. Bought a 9070 on launch day at Microcenter to pair with this. Should do me well for a while.

The x3d chips have a huge L3 cache. Some games benefit more from large cache than they do from a fast CPU/threads/cores since the cache is stored directly on the cpu itself so accessing it doesn't require calling out to the RAM for the data. I'm not an expert though so there's probably more to it than that. Your workload is what would determine which chip is better suited for you. I game on a 7700x just fine. But I wouldn't doubt that for certain folks the 7600x3d is a better choice. If you want the best of both worlds then there are versions that have the high core count as well as the huge x3d cache.

Looking to upgrade from an i7 6700k. I use mine for mostly work, sometimes video editing, and sometimes gaming. I've having trouble deciding which chip? Would a 7700x be better for productivity? Or would the L3 cache on the 7600x3d benefit me for video editing? Any help would be appreciated.

The 7700x would be marginally better in video editing (and that just in rendering output, which I hope you know is a fraction of the overall time required for editing), whereas the x3d chip would be considerably better in games that can leverage it (which are a lot).
If editing is a high enough priority for you, you can do much better than either of these chips. My recommendation would be to go for the x3d, take the minor addition in render times, and enjoy much smoother 1 percent lows.
