It looks like the same model is sold within a similar price range on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/HP-OmniBoo...100&sr=8-1

Wondering about this vs Acer Aspire 14, which will be $550 on June 15th at Costco. This is is definitely lighter and screen is a little brighter (both FHD+, not 1440p) but I've had bad experience with HP in the past. Also, wondering about performance of Ryzen vs the Ultra 5 226V

And 226v won't even compete with the most garbage 340 on performance. Meh...

Ultra 5 226v has a bit better battery life, but significantly lower performance both on power and battery. I especially don't like Lunar lake because it just doesn't feel smooth. It kind of feels similar to my old 1220p devices with stutter and some random low performance here and there. I have owned vivobook s14 ( a lot of them), acer swift 16, and surface laptop business with lunar lake and they all feel not smooth. The snapdragon and 7840 devices are way smoother.

The Aspire series is similar to the Swift, which while decent is not as good as the HP in build quality in my opinion (I own a Swift 3). From the reviews and specs, it's got a pretty good keyboard, good screen, decent CPU. There is really nothing available in this price range which competes in terms of weight. Maybe the LG Gram 14 or Macbook Air 13 come closest but are double the price for comparable RAM and SSD storage.

Yes there are some drawbacks, the small battery for one but the biggest in my opinion is the severely cut down GPU (just 4 CUs vs the 8 in the AI 350 or 12/16 in the AI 365/370). So the graphics won't be as good as the Intel if that matters to you. I would really have preferred the AI 350 version of this but it's not available anywhere except in-store in Microcenter.

But still, it's a great price for a laptop of this weight. I almost pulled the trigger at $650 yesterday but ended up waiting and got it for $550 and I'm pretty happy with that.

I was unaware that 6-core Krackan took such a big hit to graphics until you pointed it out. I'm sure it's usable but they really nerfed it.

Yeah it's unfortunate, the full die config in the AI 350 is very well balanced with the 8 core CPU + 8 CU GPU. With the 28W max TDP of this laptop, would have been enough. A 50% cut to GPU in the AI 340 is too much, if they had at least kept it to 6 CUs it would have been acceptable. But I think the design is such that they can only cut 4 at a time (16 to 12 for the full Strix Point die for example). So if graphics is a priority, wait for the AI 350 version.
