This is the lightning version.
Thank you, that killed the deal for me
You only need to charge it once every few weeks, right? And many of us have some lightening cable laying around, so it's not that bad?

Torn between this in new condition versus the green version with no numeric keypad albeit refurbished for ~$59 current on FP.

Sold! Would I prefer the USB-C one? Sure. Is it worth missing out on a deal like this, when I only have to plug this thing in every couple of months? No. That's a ridiculous line to draw.

Came here to say that I'm typing on this now and it's a great keyboard. I don't care about the lightening cable either, you can get those for a couple of bucks and throw it in the drawer along with your usb-c cable. Like others have said, it lasts a couple of months and I use mine for work.

I came from using my MBP's keyboard for years and found that the keys on this external keyboard have a bit more tactile response. It's no mechanical keyboard, but that's exactly why I like it - I type quick and prefer minimal travel. Fits my style perfectly.

There is nothing special about this keyboard to justify this price

Why lightening kills it?

If you still have lightening devices in the house or you are okay with having two cables or an adapter around. This is a great keyboard. However, as I have to always keep two kinds of cable/adapter around, and keep reminding myself to bring them with me when travel, I have decided to pay more to consolidate my devices to usbc only.

Most likely because they have all usb c devices so they only need one type of cable. It'll always be the right one no matter which cable is grabbed. Besides, lightning and usb c have similar size connectors so easy to mix up. It's not hard to figure out why. I would do the same if all my apple devices are usbc.

It's a designer keyboard and it is good quality (materials, build quality, reliability). I will say the Magic Trackpad is f'ing awesome and nothing compares to it even on other OS - this keyboard aesthetically complements the magic trackpad if you have one. For people that already own an Apple, the design aspect is already part of their budget ...and there is something to be said for Feng shui if you have a space that you enjoy being in and using every day. I would agree though, it is a luxury. I buy used and resell later...I'm only down twenty to thirty bucks after five years, which is essentially the cost of a cheap keyboard...no brainer.

The difference is the USB-C model has the additional FN key on the bottom-left rather than above the "del" key. It's the same as how the Apple silicon macbooks are. Personally I had no idea how much of an inconvenience the lighting version was because using shortcuts on the 16" macbook's became a norm for me. (not sure about the 14" and the air though)
