I just saw a different version of this at Sams Club today for $79.99. Was considering picking it up to replace my cat's constant flowing fountain. But you are right how cats are drawn to the flowing and sound water. But they do adapt to things like the Litter Robot in no time so I wouldn't know for sure without sampling one for a decent amount of time.
If anyone has one, how difficult was it for your cat to adjust to using the motion sensor?

Ordered one of these to try it in intermittent mode, if the cats don't like that, I can always switch it to continuous flowing mode. The little pump in our current cat fountain is starting to give out, the flow is barely a trickle now, so I need to new one soon anyways.
Some pets like drinking from faucets lol. Some of these kind of water fountains simulate that. Plus, it filters out contaminants like drool or whatever else may fall out of their mouth

Wouldn't say it's better, if I could give my cat just a bowl of water I would, but she doesn't drink enough if it's just sitting in a bowl. Previous owner spent years trying just a bowl and had many issues with UTIs. When I got her, it took a couple months of trying until I got a water fountain and she started drink from it immediately.
You can also run many of these without the filters which is what I do (only a mesh filter to catch any cat hair) but it's still time needed to clean these occasionally.
Will pick one up as a backup.
