This is more reliable than the Bellin mini dock.

But you can also get them used for half price aftermarket. Sometimes much less.

I got this last time, worked to enable 2x 4k external displays (in addition to the laptop screen) for my M1 Max MBP with no fiddling

It's confusing whether or not this will support extended dual monitors for new Mac Mini.

Dual 4k capped at 60hz… but what about single 4k? 120hz? Why don't the specs ever show this on powered hubs

I think Mac minis all work for two monitors. It's when it's a MacBook air you need a m4 chip as that has an internal screen since it's basically 3 monitors at that point.

Someday an HDMI 2.1 dock will come out. And if they could put DP 1.4 and a thunderbolt daisy chain in and keep it under 150$ I might consider it.

also me, wanting to know if this would support 4kx2 via one hdmi (for dual 4k odyssey g9) no one talks about supporting this config and its so annoying, they all have artificial width caps.

I bought one of these when this deal was posted a couple of months ago. I'm using the DisplayPort connection to run a 2k monitor and a USB-C to HDMI adapter to drive a second 2k monitor. I also have a USB to 2.5Gb network adapter connected to one of the rear USB ports. My final connection is a 10Gb USB hub that is attached to one of the front panel USB ports.

The dock works fine for my needs with both Windows 11 and Kubuntu on my laptop (dual-boot).

Tb5 and USB 4 v2 would be the ones that have the bandwidth necessary

Very good price. Wish it had more than one USB-C port.

At this point, unless pressed for cash or only needing something for an extra setup, I'd only get a Thunderbolt 5 dock. I've also seen docks for a lot cheaper than this.

Lastly, caldigit is awesome. They put a ton of thunderbolt ports on their docks. Then you can add cheap dongles for whatever you need. The caldigit is the only dock that doesn't leave me feeling limited.

It really depends on your use case. TB5 docks are all like $300+. I bought this dock last time it popped up and it has suited me well since I don't need a lot of fast throughput for my laptop when I work from home. I just needed a couple of monitors and a few ports for a reliable dock and wasn't trying to spend $300.

Would this work on a M3 Air to enable 2nd display if closed? Anyone know?
