This is incorrect- I own it. It has two DDR5 slots and two M.2 slots for drives. The case is a bit of a pain to open the first time due to a lot of snapon points, but it is fully upgradable.

I have one of these laptops and the RAM is definitely upgradeable. I upgraded mine to 64 GB.

Nice for the price, I THINK the processor is a typo though, can't find any evidence a Ryzen 7 7445HS exists, maybe the 7435HS?

It's the 16gb of ram (likely soldered) that kills this for me
I believe that most of the Victus laptops are able to be upgraded. I have the Intel Core i5 version of this and it is upgrade-able so I'd expect this one to be as well. Description also mentioned 2 x 8gb.

Confused me so much haha. So I meant "I think Best BUy made a typo" not that Dr. W did. I can't find any evidence a Ryzen 7445HS exists anywhere. Like that number doesn't mean anything.

It exists, its a 6 core chip. Vs the 7435hs 8 core chip. https://files.bbystatic.com/NWkiq.../Datasheet

So weird, I literally cannot find this processor anywhere else... Like AMD's list of Ryzen 7 laptop chips doesn't include it, google just gives me results for a Dell 7445 model with a Ryzen (the laptop model is 7445 not the chip).

So maybe Bestbuy doesn't have the typo, maybe HP does?

Interestingly, https://support.hp.com/us-en/docu...1678592-16

"NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB GDDR6 dedicated)

NOTE: Only on models configured with AMD Ryzen™ 7 8845H, Ryzen™ 7 8845HS, or Ryzen™ 5 8645HS processor."

I'm tempted to buy this but discouraging how there's nothing to confirm what processor is in it. Also looked at performance specs for NVIDIA GPUs and this model isn't listed there either.

Talked to someone at the store and its a brand new model, its listed on the box as a 7445HS chip. I didn't take a pic.(My fault) Still trying to decide if tis would be worthy for a teenager who wants to do gaming development.

I did the same thing and talked to someone at the store who was confused about the 7445HS since he never heard of it either. There also happen to be an AMD rep in the store who was also not familiar with this processor. The box also shows a 7445HS chip, so its not a typo. One point to add is that the 7445HS is an APU (as indicated on the box). Still on the fence. I think this is a good price but was hoping to get a 4060 around this price.

So I don't think this is a bad system for someone wanting to do game dev depending on what they are interested in doing. The GPU probably won't be the annoying part for game dev imo, it will be the mystery processor we are all discussing lol. Build times for projects can get pretty rough without a great CPU behind it in programming as complexity increases. I mean if we are talking about someone new to coding whose projects are likely to be smaller if nothing else this is a great laptop to find out "do you really like it? No? okay you have a decent laptop then" without going crazy on cost.

I will say though I would personally rather get the Best BUy Asus that is posted here on SD, the open box with a 3050. You trade a slower GPU (same ram) for a MUCH faster processor (almost certainly) and a very bright screen that has good color accuracy and a much better build quality which matters for adults, but really matters for kids.

Careful I will say from experience the 3050 laptop gpu is a joke, let alone that card. you're better off finding one with a 3060,3070,3080,4050,4060. You should find relatively good deals for any laptop with those gpu, it'll get way pricier when you look into a 4060.
