Seriously though. In the portable emulator space. This is one of the best gameboy style players you can get. You can put several different custom OS/launchers on this device and load your Roms and your talking about a pocketable system that is perfect for waiting areas or coffee shops. Best screen. Solid build. Clicky buttons. I have owned the white one for about 6 months and it is my favorite. They go for around $60 so at this price I may pick up a backup. Highly recommend this one to people that are interested in jumping into this space.

You're better off starting fresh with the games you want with a better SD card.

True! I think I have as much fun setting these things up as I do actually playing the games

I bought an Anbernic with this same form factor, and while cool, its pretty easy to notice that the Gameboy was developed for children or people with small hands, they feel very cramped as someone with larger adult hands. Its not uncomfortable to play, but sometimes feels a little awkward. A different form factor might be better for some peopl. Same sentiment goes for the original NES/SNES controllers if people have tried those as adults.

The lack of sticks on this makes it a no go for me, it has the power to be able to play n64, some PSP, and dreamcast but without sticks you're not going to have a good time playing those games.

Well, which Anbernic? All these devices are different sizes and dimensions, that comparison may be completely irrelevant.

The original gameboy was massive and way bigger than this.

These come in micro (funky S), mini (Miyoo mini), "regular" trimui brick, and large (anbernic 406v). There's a size for every hand and most manufacturers have them I just listed one example of each.

You're right, I have the "regular" size, which is slightly less wide than the original gameboy, feels cramped. I have not tried the 406v which appears to be 1.5cm wider than the original gameboy. That was the main issue IMO - the width of these devices, not height or depth
