No TB3 40/32.5 Gbps, FYI. Falls back to USB on TB3 systems.

I almost ordered this exact enclosure a couple of days ago for regular price. I'm so glad I didn't. Thanks OP!I will be using this as my external boot drive for my M4 Mac mini.

[USB4 devices optionally can work with TB3 ports at full speed, but for some reason this one doesn't].

A noob question for experts here- how is this different and better than other Mac mini docks like one from Satechi? I want an external 2TB storage for picture editing in Lightroom/photoshop, which one is better option? Thanks much in advance.

Just the enclosure for nearly $100? I don't buy for the government.

Sure I've been eyeing this one for the following reasons:
  • Good performance for the new Mac's with m4's, bandwidth around 3,000MB/s
  • Great passive cooling without the need for a noisy fan
  • Seemed well regarded in terms of compatibility for Mac's

Incorrect. This is the same product as the last linked posting. Runs 40gbps USB4, and to clarify this is not the usual and slower 10gbps/20gbps.

Thanks for clarifying. I already have the Satechi but this one is suppose to be the best enclosure for speed and cooling.

This is where I run my 4TB NVME for my Mac mini and it has been flawless. No disconnects and no issues of any kind.

Do iPads with M series chips support the full 40Gb/s or does iPadOS limit it to 10Gb/s? The spec sheet for the iPads says "Thunderbolt / USB4", but the OWC product page mentions iPads to expect 10Gb/s. Maybe they mean other iPads without M-series chips?
