Basically there are three tiers:

These XX devices that play everything up to PS1 with some good results for Dreamcast, PSP, and N64. Around $60-80 retail, but often <$50 as here
The mid-level android based devices like the RG CUBE (not really comparable), Retroid 5, Retroid Flip 2, Retroid Mini 2 which will play the 32bit 3D platforms through PS2 including Gamecube. $150-$250 retail, but seldom significantly cheaper.
If you want WiiU, Switch, or PS3, then you're talking a PC-like handheld e.g. SteamDeck, Ally, etc. > $400.

Controls and screen dimensions vary greatly for the low end as the old emulation is less dependent on analog sticks and triggers. I believe there are so many variants because they are cheap and can be nostalgic, but under the hood, the XX devices are all the same. 16x9 or wide screen with more modern controls makes sense for the mid-tier, esp if you want to stream games to PS5, Xbox, or Moonlight/Sunshine.
What makes this one - CubeXX nice as compare to the other XX devices is the higher res, more vertical screen and nicer sticks. If I didn't already have other XX devices, I'd definitely pick this one up.
I don't have a mid tier device as I'm a very casual gamer - just a quick 15-30 minutes here and there. If I were to spend a lot of time on a modern games, I'd do it on a Steamdeck or Ally. I dabble in the mid-tier by using an older Samsung S20FE and a Gamesir G8 Galileo to see what it would be like - but there seems to be a lot more customization required in the mid-tier and I just don't have time.

Click the 2nd link in the post.

"Playable with heavy limitations."

AKA I wouldn't get it with any sort of hopes of playing GameCube games.

That means some 2D simpler games will run at a lower than norm frame rate with likely garbled sound/audio.

I see it as $53.30 before the $10 off coupon (which is applicable to any alix order over $50, so one may have already used it on another order) so $43.30 plus tax—anyone else seeing a better price?

Damn, I already have 3 of these handheld devices containing the Allwinner H700, but I'm almost tempted to buy this one due to its screen size, smh...

Man there are so many of these it's hard to keep straight. Any experts here recommend one that can play up to PS2? Also 3DS if possible (i know it won't emulate 3D)

you probably want the regular RG Cube (non-XX), or the Retroid Pocket 5/Flip 2/Mini v2. The Retroids seem to be in the sweet spot in performance per dollar right now for PS2 capabilities.

You'll have to spend mid/high 200s for something capable of GCN/PS2

in terms of the ergonomics this is my favorite of the low-end emulation handhelds; I ditched the 35xx and 35xx H, and even the similar-display-but-more-capable Powkiddy RGB30 in favor of this one. I still have a TrimUI Brick to scratch that Gameboy-looking-vertical itch but honestly every device that's physically smaller or thinner than this has proved uncomfortable to hold for more than 15 minutes at a time, and once you're attaching grips/cases you're in the same size/weight territory as this thing anyways.

Can someone dumb down what this is? Can you actually put GameCube games in these and it will play on the screen? From what I read this one is not going to work, but I'd be willing to spend more to do that.
