Very good price.
No integrated GPU, it's actually quite powerful as far as iGPU goes and you get QuickSync.

No QuickSync is a deal breaker for video editing FYI

The mode with built in GPU is available for $30 more if that is important.

Wow this cpu is crazy, its like a beast on roids. I'm still using a i5-6400 which has a passmark of 5000. Everything runs just fine though. Man so tempted to pull the trigger though..

Lord give me the strength to hold out for 18A. My i5-7500 is doing ok for my light-ish workloads, but I'm certainly getting the upgrade itch.

I do a mix of productivity and gaming. I had a 13700k and upgraded to this a few weeks ago with some 6000 cl28 ram. At first it felt like a lateral move. Then I did all the patches, updates, and enabled the 200s boost feature. It was a very noticeable uptick in performance. You could get more with manual overclocking but I dont do that anymore. The platforms main issue is memory latency. Just dont pair it with crappy memory and do all the patches + overclock manually or enable the 200s boost feature. I got a 30% improvement in latency just from that.

I also dont think it matters if you get the fancy, expensive cudimm stuff or not. Just some 6000 cl28 or cl30 should be fine. I get the same results as people with memory that cost double.

Dude. Even an g7400 would kill your i5.

Why not upgrade to an amd am4 platform? You can even use your existing memory.

I'm an upgrade once every x amount of years guy. I'd rather retire my old rig and repurpose it fully functioning rather than upgrading the components. Looks like 18A is the generational leap I'm looking for assuming promises are kept.

That's really bad advice as AM4 is obsolete. The 265k is significantly faster in basically every metric than AM4's best CPUs, the 5950x and 5800x3D while typically being more power efficient. Absolute zero reason for anyone to buy an AM4 motherboard these days when the newer gens and DDR5 are getting so cheap, as pointed out above there are even combos that throw in DDR5 for free.
