After some time the paint on these will flake off in your food.

I'm a practical person nd not very picky about these kinds of things, so I bought these some time ago when they were on sale.

I regretted buying them. They are not good. Even a low-mid tier IKEA knifes work better.

Am I better off with the "cook" knives at Costco Business? I can't go high end (well I can but you know), because I cook but NOT cook cook...if you catch my drift

I have these in my camp kitchen box and they are totally fine, good even. I have no doubt that they're the best knife set you can get at this price.

I got basically this set out of 'reward points' at work. They are decent budget knives overall, but my biggest issue with them is the smooth handle surface on a relatively round handle shape. This makes it very easy for the knife to rotate in your hand. I typically grab my Dexter Russel chef knife which has a more square handle profile and ample texturing easily engineering around this issue this knife set has.
To summarize they are ok and usable, but I would not purchase these for my primary knife set.

I think this is a good deal.
I purchased this set on Amazon 1/2023 for $12.99 - model C55-01-12PCKS. I use the green santoku knife daily to slice 1-2 pounds of fresh strawberries. I've sharpened it with a regular manual knife sharpener every few months and the blade has been fine though I did scrape a bit of the green ceramic coating away; it doesn't seem to have flaked off anywhere beyond the area scraped during sharpening. It works well for slicing steak as well though I don't think that's the proper knife for the job. I've also used the blue slicing knife on occasion and have not been memorably disappointed. The other four knives I've never used. That said, I feel those two knives I mentioned alone are worth $13.
I'm not a chef so those who are can give better esoteric rationale as to why these are bad knives for a bad price. (also, may be inconsequential but 15,000 reviews averaged 4.8/5 on Amazon)

I've owned this set of knives for years and have not had any paint flake. And I've used them a ton.

Agreed. I've used this set of knives for a number of years now without issue. They sharpen up fine. They're of course not the best knives out there, but at this price they're worth it for a whole set.

Just google it
AI Overview
Cuisinart's colored knife sets, specifically those with a painted or coated blade, are known to have issues with the color coating flaking off, even with handwashing

I love these knives. The paint has personallt never chipped, I had one knife tip break, and they replaced free of charge. (whether that was user error or defective was up to cuisinart)

Have you used these and experienced this yourself or are you just warning people about some thing you think might happen
