Shills
Employees of for-profit companies are not "shills" just because you don't like what they do. Staff posts can be annoying, so I usually just ignore them. I want SD to make money though so it continues to exist.

I tried this and more expensive ones with my old 2016 Honda, and here are good and bad things:
- Bluetooth worked fine for dual audio, ie CarPlay was paired to the phone and audio was playing via BT on car speakers
- it is hard to find a place for the device in a modern car that doesn't block something important
- all these add-on CarPlay struggle with brightness levels. Cheaper ones like this are not bright enough for sunny days. And each one I tried up to $150 price point was too bright for nigh driving even with the brightness at the very minimum
- sometimes it may start lagging, like 1-2 sec delay with navigation
I've switched to a good mount for a large screen iPhone and prefer it to any of these add-on CarPlays. They may be OK however for a very old car that doesn't have BT to use with AUX cable

Does Android Auto launch automatically when you plug in your phone, like it does on built-in systems or do you have to do anything manually on your phone? is android auto full screen? Does it lag the entire time during navigation with a 1-2 sec delay or just at the beginning when putting on your destination?

I've only used it with iPhone. It is all automatic for wireless CarPlay, nothing to press. Lag usually was not there

Where did you mount it on your Honda?
