I have had this for about 7 years now and love it. I traveled the world (over 40 countries) and has held up well even though I abuse it. Had an issue with one of my other Osprey bag and they honored their lifetime warranty without any issues. They replaced it with a new bag.

I am trying to decide between a carryon and a backpack. I think carryon luggage would be easier to travel in airports and cities. May I ask why you went with a backpack?

I travelled cheaply and "backpacked" all over the world. It forced me to pack lighter. Also, I flew a lot of budget airlines and they would charge extra for regular sized carry-ons but they didn't give me any issues with this backpack.

When I travel with backpack unit I feel way more mobile. Like I can go anywhere do anything at the drop of a hat with out the incumbrance of luggage.

I bought when it was $137, I recently used in a budget airline "Front" they forced me to test personal item size and due to the back frame I had to pay $99 on atl layover and decided to pay the $39 return. Anyone has another rec for smaller backpack or way to remove the hard back liner so it fits in the future in the compartment? thanks Backpack is wonderfull for 2 weeks travel in eruope as I did last year.

I think wheels are easier in an airport, but not necessarily in cities. Depends on where you are going, and of course if you feel OK walking with a backpack, which is probably in the 20 pound and up category.

I have had the osprey porter 30l for several years with the bright green interior which I really like. I use it as my personal item when flying

The Osprey 26+6 is small enough to be a personal item in the majority of airlines. I highly recommend it. If you want a discount code for Osprey's website, PM me.

A friend of a friend created and released the Almond Oak expandable backpack is a more refined and enhanced version of the 26+6, which I'd recommend over the Osprey.

Both are great options. Once you go one bagging, you can't go back!

Have been looking for this size bag for my upcoming trip to Greece, and was between this and the Peak Design. Glad I was able to save a few more bucks. Thanks for posting!

The Peak Design packing cubes are fantastic. Expensive, but the go to packing cubes in the one bag community.

I don't think you are wrong. However, if you actually carry this capacity, this backpack is considered one of the best in terms of weight distribution and comfort.

There's always a compromise among weight, features, comfort, and durability. This one is quite comfortable at the expense of weight, but so are most of the popular onebag backpacks that cost more than double this.

I can't imagine any situation where having to lug around something on wheels is easier than just wearing a backpack that keeps your hands free.
