Windows 11 plus a recent AAA game and nothing else running will easily push a system to to 14-15 GB, windows uses 9GB on it's own. I'm currently getting 15 GB of usage with God of War (2019) running on a single 1440P monitor. Seems highly likely Windows is swapping in the background from time to time with 16gb setups, unless the system stripped down to bare essentials, or running Linux. If you have a $750+ rig, seems a bit silly to cheap out on a bit of memory headroom to ensure it runs smooth...
Sounds like maybe you're the one that needs to open Task Manager more often?

What happened to the Intel spring gaming bundle? It runs until July 31st and newegg used to auto-add it to your cart but it seems they stopped so I'm not sure if we'd still be eligible for it.
Absolutely fine for a starter, but the RAM is a bit low. If you dump this RAM on to eBay and pickup a 32gb (2x16gb) kit, pair this up with an entry level card (9060xt 16gb or 506016gb) and a sensible case, Thermalright air cooler…you could build a very nice rig for under $1k
or you could just pick up another 16gb kit and run 4 of them.
This is a really compelling deal... the CPU is nearly as fast as my 9800X3d that I paid more than this whole bundle for. It's the new line from Intel and they fixed the degradation problem that plagued the 13 and 14 series chips. Plus a motherboard, 16gb of RAM. Really a shame they didn't make this bundle with a 32GB set. I think I might wait for a 265kf bundle with a 32gb set and get it these seem to be pretty close to AMDs cpus for a much lower price.
Last free item was a liquid cooler, I'll likely wait to see if that comes back, 2x8gb ram makes little sense. I want the ability to put 64gb in a system (even if I'd only buy 32 today)
I can't believe nobody has pointed out that is already EOL- This socket will not be supported for any new processors coming from intel, they're already moving to a new chipset, and a new socket. AMD's AM4 even just had a new X3D chip released 9 YEARS later for the platform... Intel is already killing this off after the FIRST gen Ultra series chip. If you want to be locked in, uh, knock yourself out I guess.
AMD's AM5 has already had 2 generations released on the socket, and have guaranteed at least the next gen going forward will be using AM5 as well. They've stated support through 2027, whatever processors that may entail.
I was about to buy this deal, and as I was finding a cpu cooler to buy with this, the CPU price jumped from 259 to 299. So I am waiting to see if they return to their senses on Monday.

there's other factors to care about besides a socket... you sound like a guy from 1998.

Don't forget that you cannot have any Chrome pages opened either. I played CoD recently with low RAM and it was consistently crashing because I had 3 tabs of Chrome opened. It felt like having an old crappy computer like back in the day where you had to turn everything off ok the PC just so you can run the game lol and I have a 4070 TI.

Not everyone cares about upgrading CPUs. Many people just build a new system every five years and when they do they buy a new motherboard instead of investing more money into older tech.
