Why is refurb exempt from the tax break?

Probably cuz it's not new

I don't think I've ever read that a refurb would be ineligible. With the way it is reported on the tax forms there's no reason I can think of why you could not do it... This is in contrast to the EV credits where the dealership has to submit information to the IRS.

My goodness! So many good Eco-Worthy deals lately. I so badly want to bite, but I hear high voltage will be all the rage soon and I can only imagine these prices dropping even more to make way for that.

Do you have any links regarding higher voltage setups being developed/brought to market?

LG has a 400v home battery storage system. Scary to work on, but higher voltage equals smaller wire for the same amperage, and greater conversion efficiency. 48v is not going away anytime soon, the same way USB-A is still around. It's ubiquitous, and it's less likely to kill you if you're working on it with sweaty fingers.
