I have 3 of these 1.6gpf variants at my home for about a year now, only 1 clog so far, the claimed non stick properties are also a lie.
Great toilet. I put this thing through hell twice a day every day, and all day on National Taco day.
i've never sat on a tall toilet until a month ago at the industial complex for my industrial garages. they replaced the toilet with a tall one. that was a weird feeling. got used to it. not a biggie. it's really designed to help the elderly and those with injuries get on and off easier. it's standard commericial code for my area now.

I understand ToTo is a premium brand, and premium products typically use better materials and are made with better craftsmanship to justify their premium price. But porcelain is porcelain and toilet is toilet with very little complexity and moving parts. I can't even tell a ToTo toilet from any other by appearance. So what makes ToTo toilets worth hundreds more than American Standard or even Kohler?

For the non stick properties, you are suppose to not clean it with bleach or anything aggressive based on the manual. In theory it should wear out with time, but the non stick on our 1.6 drake has been fine. You really need to not clean it as aggressively as you would with a regular toilet though.

For anyone wondering, this is technically an ADA compliant height toilet. It's listed as 17.625" seat height. (ADA is anywhere in the 17"-19" range.)

And for those wondering, Toto toilets flush better (more completely) than other toilets and have a superior ceramic surface inside the bowl making things less likely to stick.

Is this a good price?
I will admit that I'm kind of clueless about buying toilets but I need to replace one of mine in the next month or so.
I have someone who's going to install it and I was going to just go to Home Depot but Costco may be easier.

Just wanted to share my experience with the Toto Drake 1.6l deal from Bed Bath & Beyond from a previous slickdeals post late 2023. I ordered the Drake bowls and tanks separately (ended up getting three in total). Here's my breakdown:

- **Items:** $812.82
- **Coupon Savings:** -$138.18
- **Subtotal After Discounts:** $674.64
- **Shipping:** Free
- **Tax:** $43.85
- **Total:** $718.49

Total after coupon: $812.82 - $138.18 = $674.64
Cost per toilet (tank + bowl) after coupon: $674.64 ÷ 3 = $224.88
So, each Toto Drake (tank + bowl) came out to about $224.88 after coupon savings.

A couple of the toilets arrived with some damage, but BB&B was great about sending replacements. Think they actually came from build.com. They even accidentally over-shipped, so I was able to resell the extras and cut my costs even more. 😅

**Pro tip:** Don't use bleach-based cleaners on these! I made that mistake and later learned it can ruin the special glaze/barrier that helps keep the bowl cleaner. Stick to gentler cleaners to keep your Toto looking and working its best.

I also added a Toto bidet attachment to one of them—game changer! These replaced the builder-grade American Standard toilets from my 2006 home, and the upgrade was totally worth it.

Will add that I have hard water and eventually saw a ring in the toilet bowl, so won't magically stay cleaned on its own.

Also… staining around the small hole at the bottom of a Toto Drake toilet bowl, where water shoots in during a flush (called the siphon jet hole or simply the siphon jet). This hole is crucial for creating the strong siphoning action that efficiently flushes waste down the drain. In addition to the siphon jet, there are also small holes under the rim of the bowl called rim jets, which help rinse the sides of the bowl…. Both areas aren't easy to get with a toilet brush. Will need something smaller like a toothbrush and shouldn't use harsh chemicals like bleach.

I do recognize that Toto has been de-facto in east-Asia. Do these use non-standard parts? How do these toilets fare compare to the typical standard toilets? I am getting tired to fixing them again and again in the past 30 some years. The filler or flapper require constant maintenance, at least 1x every 5-7 years. Want a 1 time investment for life...
Parts are easily purchased on Amazon or Home Depot. In the Amazon search type "visit the toto store" and you'll find everything you need to know.
In my own home I have 4 of the 1.6l Drakes. Since they were installed 13.5 years ago, (used with a whole house water softener), I replaced one fill valve last year and earlier this year and as a preventive measure I replaced all 4 flapper valves when one started to fail on one toilet. It is also possible to buy just the new seals on Amazon for the fill valve saving the expense of a whole new fill valve.
I have never had a clog and do find them easy to clean. I installed Toto Bidets on two of the toilets during the TP shortage. Happy with those also.

I'm with XiDa on this point, never was "non-stick".

Tried Dawn and a rubber brush, FAIL.

I really wanted to believe it.

These are the shit. They are awesome. They were installed in my new place, then a family member installed them. They had ancient 4+ gallon toilets that would clog all the time. Zero clogs ever, and I need to double-flush maybe once a year. 1.26gpf version too.

The flushing mechanism is very good. It also makes these toilets easier to clean.

Don't use chemicals in the tank...nothing but water...the runner parts shouldn't wear out for more than 5+yrs, the filler is just a wear item across all toilets, zero chance none of the brands last forever. Toto parts are widely available vs most standard parts unlike Kohler.
