Should be good, but still too early to tell since this item is new and being pushed by SD staff.

Specs exceed the stock SSD. The description specifically mentions the Steam Deck. It even shows the Steam Deck in one of the pics. I believe it is compatible. I am getting one for mine.

My Google fu tells me it is TLC. Also microcenter has it for the same price.

This is the article that stated it was TLC.

If you want to be really careful, for $5 more you can get a 1TB version of the Micron drive that's actually in some Steam Decks (or, for $65 more, 2TB). I replaced the Micron that was in my OLED Deck with its 2TB brother. Generally held to be fast and (crucially) low-power.

You're failing to consider the form factor. That's the increase in price.

You are making the 'assumption' that smaller should somehow costs more in this case. It's the same, exact, hardware, on a smaller PCB. The failure to consider was not mine. Paying more for less is never a wise decision. Paying more today then yesterday for old outdated tech, that too very unwise financial advise!

I am almost certain a 2280 is going to have 2 flash chips compared to this single chip.

A single chip with the same capacity as two is going to be more expensive to manufacture.

If I am incorrect and it is a double sided chip, that manufacturing process is also more expensive compared to single sided.

For what it's worth: I have an additional 30% off coupon showing up in the product listing. It comes up as $56.03 incl. WI tax.

I don't get this comment. It always costs more to pack the same stuff into a smaller package. That's always been the case in computing. There is a reason these really tiny NVME drives cost a premium over the larger form factors.
