It does look to have a puma chip set from a quick Google search

If you're buying this for Xfinity I would get a used coda for $40 on eBay, that one will get you increased upload speeds if you are in an upgraded area and this one will not.

Yes, this has an puma chip with all of the associated problems. YMMV, but imo it's really only an issue for latency & jitter sensitive applications. Think online gaming, virtual desktop/remote desktop applications, etc. You'll never notice it from just netflix and chrome. See: https://approvedmodemlist.com/int...t-defects/

Also, this is honestly not that good of a deal and generally just a poor product to purchase in 2025. Refurbs are $25 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-SURF...B06XPRDVDC

Do keep in mind that most ISPs will only provision Docsis 3.0 modems for 300-500 mbit these days regardless of what speed tier you pay for. Ignore the advertising - this will certainly not do 1.4 gbit (it has a 1 gbit port), and probably closer to 400 mbits at most American ISPs. Comcast in particular only provisions D3.0 modems for 400 mbit maximum.

Personally, I'm partial to the Arris S33 for a good D3.1 + 2.5gbe modem.

That will get you increased upload speeds for free if you live in an upgraded Xfinity area. They can be had for $40-50 on eBay used.

Ha ha, so far off, in another galaxy. I thought perhaps my memory was off, or it had been addressed since prior deals.

Beware any adjectives in usernames, even bot names.

All the issues the puma chip had were patched. I used this modem for about 3 years, after upgrading to a docsis 3.1 last year. I had zero issues and I work from home using voip. But it's really up to the isp if they rolled out the patch or not. If it's a big isp like Cox or Spectrum then it's been fixed. You are also better off buying new over used or refurbs. Used modems might still be associated to an old customer's account, and isp tech support can't move them between accounts.
